Bucket truck outrigger pads

I just purchased my first bucket truck. I'm in the market for some Plastic outrigger pads. I rather just bit the bullet and go plastic, then go wood and have to replace in a year or so. They will see the elements. Truck is 33k GVW, and I have 4 outriggers. What makes and size pads are you guys running? Common sizes seem to be 18x18 or 24x24. Thanks in advanced.

I use Dica 24x24 they aren't cheap but they are worth every penny when you finally pony up the cash to get them. I have a set for 6 years and they still look new.

Same here. Not cheap. but way better than wood and they last a lot longer too. You can't go wrong. Get in the habit of putting down the pads for every job and every surface.

I'm a big fan of the Dica I've put my pads down on every surface imaginable and they've been bullet proof so far after 6+ years. And like Royce said we put them down every time the outrigger goes down no matter the surface.

I measured out 18x18 & 24x24. Obviously bigger is better. Probably just go 24x24 and be done. If you are on softer material, I would probably be happy if I went 24. I just dumped 10k into the truck, brakes, fuel tank, air tank, seal, exhaust. This baby is bleeding me dry! I need pads, saw holder, and bucket cover though sooner than later!

If the new ANSI Z 133 is Approved in a couple of weeks there is a change that requires using pads ALL of the time

Hearing that some of you are doing that already is heartening. GrEat to know that

I like the DICA outrigger pads, I include them with every lift I sell as they are what I perceived to be the best and what I bought for myself with my lift.

You can get colored DICA pads now, fwiw.

I find it helpful to have MORE than just outrigger pads. I use mats under the pads (rarely) when there is questionable ground on far side reaches. And I keep lots of cribbing, 6x6, 4x4, 2x12, and old lam beam shorts for building up level surfaces on grades etc. I have one 30x30 pad that I use for the outrigger that will take the most pressure. It's a good feeling to KNOW that the pads are stable on far side reaches
