Bond Treeclimbing Stunt2

Not a movie but some of the best tree climb9ing I have seen on film was a discovery channel documentary about some bee keepers in africa. Amazing climbing sequences. Some of the best tree climbing techniques I have seen anywhere.

After the reference to "Teh Virgin Suicides" I read up on the story. The neighborhood had many elms that got DED and were removed. They were an archetype that fit in with the changes in society and the family.

How about a huge oak with 4 chainsaw wielding climbers. Bond is chased into the drop zone dodging a dropped limb that takes out one of his pursuers. Seeing a climbing line he makes a quick entrance into the tree footlocking up into the crown. A quick boot to the next villian hot on his heels and he's up to the first climber. Unaware of Bond's presence his saw buzzes by James' head. Dodging the saw he lands on a limb another arb has nearly finished his backcut. Bond leaps off catching hold a another limb while the next villian lands on the limb just as it snaps!

Bond's swings round landing on top of one of the arbs who's out on a limbwalk knocks him for a swing bringing the two of them round to another limb and oops a bad guy too. The arb, pissed at the interruption, lands a vicious handsaw slash across the pistol hand of Bond's attacker.

Ok... get the drift? anyone feel like continuing this sequence?

I have become aware that there is now a certain tangible amount of animosity toward me on both www.treebuzz.com and www.treeworld.info.

I think that this is a regrettable situation, and I will continue to endevour to put your minds at ease.

As for you 007, you can wipe that ridiculous pout from your hard bitten face, it really does not suit you.

Lazarus2,

Your right, the set would be full of egos, but not Daniel Craig, he is a very down to earth person.

Did you not see 'Our Friends in the North?'

The stunt guys would be very egotistical and suffering from delusions of grandeur, but I'm sure there are a few treeclimbers like that so it would be nothing new to someone of your experience?

Andrew

No, I didn't see 'Our Friends in the North'. I was busy contract climbing and travelling around in'96. Sounds like it was right up my street.

Are you saying you had a hand in that production?

Egotistical tree climbers? Is there any other kind? Just a question of degree maybe?

We are at least united in the knowledge and respect that it takes an awful lot of graft, risk and committment to do the job for a living. Like others committed to a life of risk, we tend to be either driven aetheists or believers - most feel what they do has a great social/quality of life purpose. Others also find it a great medium for personal development. Others just like playing around with trucks and chainsaws. It all adds to the colour of the game. So, whatever the type, after a little time served, we tend to be as grounded as we are confident. More importantly, while we occassionally bitch at each other (Healthy 'Up Front' personalties?) there is a healthy mutual respect. As I'm sure you're finding out, we're tightly knit and like to take care of our own (despite some individuals proud attempts at unprofessional conduct) and don't wish to be painted in a negative light, particularly on a world stage.

What the hell do I know?

I'm sure your intentions are honourable. If your field is character research, I think you've found the potential for quite alot of info.

Andrew,

I am calling you out. Once and for all, lets see if you can establish that you are a real person and let us put a face with a name.

Simple...find a daily newspaper in a major city. Take a picture of your face with the front page from the paper and include the date or enough of the front page for someone to know that you have that day's paper. All anyone will have to do is low level detective work and see that you do exist. If you want to keep your face off the forum then send the picture to me. You and I have already emailed so you know the drill. This would add a lot of credibility to your existence.

Dam! I made it into the movie and I didn't even know!

But, I don't want to be a "sitter". It doesn't sound exciting enough. I wanna be a Bond girl. I'm thinking a chase sequence through Boreality's avatar reminiscent of Disney's Tarzan.
I do like the wrist rocket idea. I would need lots of gadgets as I don't do chainsaws.
I will be called "Willow" and have a Salix tattooed on my rump.

That video got me all choked up.....I've got a lot to be thankful for. Some of those kids' faces were priceless, we all need to take a minute every once and awhile to savor life's many flavors, even the simple things.

Well said John,
Thanks for the video Paolo, god bless you.

I just found the link by accident Sir. I found it so powerful, I thought it might spur more of us on to get involved in such work.

I don't know who ran the event, maybe someone does?

I think many arborists would be very happy to be involved in such rewarding work. Maybe time to contact charities for the disabled and offer a service some weekends a year?

My sister is a PTA at the Cotting School (for mentally and physically challenged kids) in Lexington, MA. She's going to talk to admin next week and see if they'd be interested. We won't be visiting until late June early July, but it would be great to do something for them. Anyone in MA into setting something up??
