blue fir?

I can't figure this one out. Sorry, no closeups of the leaves, I'll have to get that when I climb the thing.

Mainly looking to know what exact species it is in order to make a decision on whether to Cobra or steel cable it. Thinking the latter, but prefer the former.

Any suggestions or thoughts are welcome.

Thanks!

The structure looks more like Spruce... the easiest way to tell the difference I whether the cones are upright and on top of the branch tips (true Fir) or hanging from them (Spruces, Pines, etc.

Did you end up cabling this one? Which method?

Totally cabled it with wedge grips and ehs cable. And a neighboring hemlock, both of which needed serious tension before applying grips. That's what made the decision for me, since you're not supposed to pre-tension Cobra.

some of the firs from out here in the pnw can take on a blue characteristics. it can even vary by elevation how blue some of our firs our.
