What I thought would happen, has. There was a suggestion about having a conspiracy thread. When I read that I guessed that the structure of the thread would look like every other conspiracy thread on every other forum I've ever seen. In about a week the thread has gone to 10+ pages. Very little of that is actually discussion. The thread is filled with umpteen lines of content.

I'd like to see a graph of the amount of comment to Tree Talk in this week compared to conspiracies. My guess...very little.

My head spins trying to follow even one of the topics. What I concluded long ago is that there is little discussion, even if there is agreement in the online format.

This isn't denying that there are plenty of fishy things going on in the world either. What I'm talking about is what conspiracy chatter looks like compared to almost every other discussion.
 
Meh. I disagree its most topics these days. People talk at each other not to each other with the goal to prove the other person wrong. There’s no discussion to try to understand what the person you’re talking to is saying not matter if you agree or not. It’s everywhere unfortunately. Sorry you don’t like the subject matter. Thank goodness you created a platform where there’s something for everyone and you don’t have to read it all! Thank you and Mark for that. I’m sure you’ve seen the changes on how people interact on here over the years. Communication as a whole across society wasn’t done any favors by removing the in person aspect of it. I just wanna chat about something I think is interesting. In the end it’s all history. Not trying to prove anything. Just have an interesting conversation. Seems fairly harmless but that’s just me.

I can’t believe that I spent even a few minutes in there. I used to be sooooo into that noise, and while I have zero doubts that there’s plenty of foul play, I can’t do anything meaningful about it beyond what I am doing now. I asked them to take it to a separate thread because I don’t want to spend any more time on that shit myself. I don’t have it to spare; I am too busy trying to make a meaningful change in the world around me. I could spend less time on here in general, but I crave good discourse, and I like talking with you guys more than I do with most folks.
 
..ok to get back on topic, I’m going to talk about my dinner Sunday night. First night out in two weeks (thanks Covid), Half a large chicken pesto pizza and two incredibly crafted pints of ale from the local brewery. My stomach was so full I was actually in pain. Really an awesome night. It’s amazing what the GI system can do when you throw it that much material in such a short amount of time.

You don’t know me well enough to throw such insults as a generality. @Shadowscape been contributing solid content her for way longer than you’ve been around and doing so with respect to everyone no matter what their opinion. So I guess I was ok with you before this thread now I have no value on this site? Most ignorant thing I’ll probably read all day. Just because your loud doesn’t make you rite.
 
Why do you all care who writes what on a thread that you don’t wanna read? Just don’t read it. It takes nothing from you for it to be there. It also takes nothing for you to not get all high and mighty about other peoples opinion. Quick shut down the internet because people are discussing something I think is stupid. C’mon guys. You’re better than this and this thread intended to give a platform to jump on the badmouth the others on this site is not in keeping with what it was supposed to be. It’s decisive and unnecessary. Sorry Tom. O hold you in high regards but this is not a treebuzz worthy thread. You’re inviting people to come to a place and insult others for openly talking and sharing a conversation that hurts no one. I’m really taken back by this. You’re calling me names because I’m discussing something I’m interested in like children? Wow.

No apologies coming from me on this subject. I am entitled to my opinion same as you. I think everyone who contributed stories to that thread is nuts. If you feel insulted, I don't give a rat's ass.
 
There’s no apology due here. It’s a two way street. You don’t like the discussion, tune it out. Nobody made you read beyond the point where it was clear what the subject was. If you’re offended by the fact that we’re having this discussion at all, then I return to the beginning here; it’s a two way street. Nobody’s telling you that you can’t have the conversation, and nobody’s making you partake of this one. ‘Merica in a nutshell.
 
I can understand why some would wish for the return of so-called "objective truth", like back in the day when Walter Cronkite would come on the nightly news and tell everyone what was what. And how did we know it was truth you ask? Well, because he was on TV, of course!

But to suggest that anyone who questions the official state-sanctioned narrative of current events is a "crackpot" is the laziest intellectual position that can ever be taken. Especially in a world where they have been proven to be lying, over, and over, and over again.

Your TV is a programming device used to spoonfeed and control the masses. One of the most obvious things in the world to me these days, is being able to pick out of a lineup those who get their news and information from the TV. Control the media, control the narrative, control the masses.

What’s not being done on the other thread. That’s called hypocrisy.
 
To be clear, I know unequivocally that there’s lots of lies to sift through and don’t do a lot of news at all anymore; as I said, I have enough else to do. I spent an incredible amount of time learning about all of that stuff when I had lots of time that I didn’t know what to do with. It’s informed my path, and now I’m moving forward with a plan.

Edit: ok I see. Your point stands. I do think some of the talk is nutty, but not all, or even most. I just don’t have time to discuss everything ad nauseum.

Also, that alternate title suggestion doesn’t say that everyone who partakes of the conversation is a nut case, but I know the implication is there. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and assume that unless explicitly stated otherwise, that there’s more subtlety to any given statement than one can find on the surface, and it doesn’t always work out to assume other people’s intent.
