Blatant ripoff of Port a Wrap?

Isn't this just a blatant rip off of a Buckingham Port a Wrap with a few pointless modifications? Why copy something but make it worse than the original design?

I asked about that Tim. Apparently, as well as the buckingham, now sherril, and now harkie are all selling identically shaped portawraps in the UK, cheap. Stein are responding to that, in their own way, with that 750kg device. Note there is no RC category/signature number on it.

Glad to see you weren't involved with the 'Invertawrap' Stein product Reg, looking at your own Stein lowering devices it's obvious they have been designed by someone who works at the sharp end of treework.

Just found the Harkie version, again, it looks under-engineered and a blatant rip off of the Buckingham original.

only question is "who did buckingham rip it off from"?

My understanding …………

Buckingham did not rip-it-off.
Why would someone say that without knowledge ?

They paid the patent fees to Norm Hall & Scott Prophet, until the patent expired a year or so ago.

I actually like the look of the new Stein design. The rubber to prevent gouging the trunk on pruning jobs is a great feature.

The design looks pretty close to Buckingham's so Stein probably paid them for the right to use it.

I can't believe Stein stooped to that level.... I've always thought of Stein as an innovative quality manufacturer especially since they had reg design and build the LD's that they first came out with. Good on you Reg for not letting them put the "RC" on it. I'm sure it's a quality tool, but I just can't believe they made it...was the rc2000 not enough?

Maybe somebody should tell Harkie they've been using it upside down. Makes all the difference.

If the patent is expired no one is being ripped off.

no, they've just blatantly copied an original design and are selling it for a profit

The reason for this is that they dont have an original bone in their body, in fact these people are leeches making money off other people's ideas

They sit on their fat assess dreaming up the most sad and pathetic ways to live off other people's ingenuity
