Big shot quick release issue; easy solution?

So I just picked up one of those Wichard quick release shackles from treestuff and have had a limited amount of time to play around with it. I've got it roughed out as just a prussik with long loop with the shackle on it on the lower pole, snap in the pouch and pull it tight. I'm running into the issue of the pouch I believe catching on the lip where the two poles meet. I'm not sure if this is directly due to how I have it set up, or if there is some technique to this that I dont know about. Any help?

Sure beats pumping out my forearm while trying to aim a shot, now only if I could get it to work!

Just thought I would throw this out seeing Ive been contemplating the "trigger release" for a while now. You can pick it up at any West Marine store for abt 30$$ in comparisson to the 60$$ Ive seen in the arb world.

Jeff,

You might try to move the rubber pouch-handle on the webbing all the way to one side, so that the QR snap is holding onto the webbing only.

I think people may cut off the rubber on the pouch-handle. Or maybe cut the rubber in half, if you want to keep the rubber for hand pulling.

I use a quick release snap for livestock that I got at Tractor Supply for 12 bucks or so. On my BS I girth-hitched a small alum. ring I got at REI years ago. The ring is very light and the metal on metal makes release so smooth. Never had an issue with hang-ups. Even with the added weight of the ring I have not had an issue with getting the height I need on PA sized trees.

I had pulled the rubber to the side already, will have to try the ring idea, I've got a few kicking around anyways. If this stuff is a failure, going to try 'fairleading' the release snap by spacing it away from the pole with something maybe.

Jeff, here's my pull and hold system, a plastic sleeve and rated Kong mini-D are below the ferrule, the Klemheist below the sleeve is attached to the bottom of the mini D. The Wichard attaches to the pouch loop as usual, small pear link is attached to the bottom of the Wichard. To load I pull the pouch down and hook the pear into the mini D, then push the sleeve down as far as I need to get the power I want. To fire release the Wichard as usual. I never have any issues with anything hanging up as the pouch goes up. Maybe the D on the sleeve is holding it out just far enough from the pole.

Note: the little hook just below the pole ferrule holds the sleeve from sliding down while I'm pulling the pouch down to it. When pouch is loaded on the sleeve I flip the loop off the hook and then push the sleeve down to fully load the slings

Awesome, thank you guys. That was another issue I had to address was hooking the pouch to the release snap while under tension. Excellent. Nice setup Andrew.
