Big Shot performance in cold weather

Been here much more than a while
When I use a trigger release with my Big Shot sling extended the full length of an 8-foot pole I'm getting some serious dud shots this winter. When I hand pull roughly 3/4 the length of the pole the shots are much stronger. In the spring, summer or fall I have no problems using a trigger and the sling fully extended, more likely the shot will be overpowered and I need to back off from pulling to the full length of the pole.

This is with a 10oz bag, 2.2 ZingIt flaked in a cube and a clean bag release from the sling. It's clear that the shot is seriously underpowered.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

It makes sense because the rubber is cold thus stiffer. I dont have that problem so much because I don't climb in such cold weather.

I wish the bigshot was a bit easier to predict. Over shooting or undershooting is really a fine art and adjusting your height to accommodate for cold weather shooting is another critical factor/hassle.

I have tried making marks on the pole but each shot is so different in terms of angle, height, and condition of the throw line, that it is very difficult to gauge just how far to pull the bag down the pole. Even for repeat attempts at the same target.

We have a saying, "either you get it on the first, or the 13 shot"! :)

I have even seen highly skilled climbers in the Master's challenge screwing up their climb from a bad big shot shot.

What I have also noticed that the new pocket (wider mouth) allows the bag to fall out easier, but also lets the bag release without 'grabbing' it.
