guess I don't rate an answer from Mr. Beranek. But was really looking for an answer from anyone. You see the guys rec climbing the giants but never a rigging removal over stuff in picts or vid.
I have been removing the largest trees in my area for 41 years now and still am at it. If there were bigger trees here and western NJ where I used to be....I'd a done them too. I am a 2 man show with me and a gm. Never turned one down.
Just seems like an interesting subject how huge (not big) diameter chunks are taken out of a excurrent tree (no other false crotches avail.) when you have high level targets below and no access to equipment. Maybe there is no such situation. Seems like if other historic trees nearby were to be destroyed by this uprooting tree there would be tree huggers out there enlisting someone to dismantle this leaner for the right price if it began to heave more..
Be real hard to fold huge chunks over into a block. Maybe it is just not done or is generally handled like in the op's poster. Blow a huge top out then slam the stick. Try to keep collateral damage to an acceptable level.
I have seen huge dead trees in rural areas where the house was abandoned and another built out of range of the tree.
Anybody else have any insights on this subject? I am done with no response and will move on.
