bell ultra logger

What I liked about this is the fewer parts. How about a fat beach ball sized tire tryke with two caster wheels mini. Big footprint and total manueverability. One wheel steering and drive could almost be a diect drive. Spin the engine for reverse or sideways.

Well I'll reply to my own thread again. I may not have it yet but it's coming together. Just did the first scribbles of design, next I'll build a few models. Hopefully a working prototype that will serve me for years. I want dibs on the name. The Travail XM for extra man.

Hopefully this turns into something helpful. A powered log/branch cart that is light enough that you could still drag a load by hand if the motor was off. I'd like a miniskid or an articulated loader but then I'd have to pay for it and haul it around.

I'll try to keep it under 250lbs.

how about a hydraulic motor for each front wheel and leave the rear a single swivel, a ride on style or the ability to add weight for counter balance, the machine in the first video looks way front heavy with 2 small sticks on it, I like where your going with this. just a couple of thoughts, best of luck.

I've got a unique and effective design I hope. I've had a few light bulds light up over my head only to realize I was just walking under an exit sign. I've also mentioned a couple ideas that have went into someone else's product. Or even the idea was their product. Your welcome. (No one here)

I could see a team effort getting this thing perfected or me squashing the models in the dark one morning and that being the end of it. It would suck for some arbo master to swipe it but patenting, r+d, manufacturing, marketing and distribution are not my forte. The idea's the easy part. I just want to work on trees and maybe have a female groundman, maybe. Let me figure this out and I'll just tease you for now.

It may not be patentable anyway so I should just get it done because I need one. If this inspires someone else to build something like this, awesome, because I think it's a needed peice of equipment. A hole in the market per say or a whole new market.

I'm going for simple and light. Forward only with walk ahead t-handle steering. Trying to get the least moving parts possible. I understand the principle of hydraulics but I've never built anything with it. My hydraulics are articulating my body. Good idea as I'd like to run the axle and a winch from the same drive.

I was just reading the gear innovation patent thread. Maybe this cart is nothing patentable but it got me thinking of other sparks of imagination that might be. Simpler tools, might be easier to develop. The cart's kind of like building a gocart, be fun to play with.

You're wanting a loader under 250lbs to lift 500lbs and be cost effective and productive? Not going to happen.

A problem with flotation tires is you increase your overall width (you mention back yards).
A problem with pivot steering is dismal performance on hills, especially when carrying a load.
What's the intended advantage over current minis and micro wheel loaders?

The advantages are purchase price, maintenance/operation costs, portability and better access to soft/tight ares. It wouldn't outperform a mini, my aim is to increase the productivity of a labourer and save some lifting injuries.

On most jobs if I had a loader it would stay on the trailer or at home. This could be helpful on all but the three scoop jobs. I'm still not even sure if my design will work but if there was a proven unit similar I'd want one.

Really fragile ground here on the work sites. Turf's rare, moss and exposed tree roots everywhere. I couldn't even use a mini without damaging the properties. Hard to beat a pair of boots. What I'm looking for is a powered dolly that pays it's way. Waterfront work is all uphill.

I think I've seen all the powered dollys and wheelbarrows available. This would be a dolly, you'd still have to get your hands dirty.

Sorry my concept matured since I started the post with the Bell loader video. It's uniqueness triggered some new design ideas. First I was just thinking of a remote control so the thing could move faster then I got thinking about making it as simple as I could.

Hey B

I have been dreaming up this machine to for many years.

I have a small self propelled chipper shredder vac that works I would be willing to part with to get this puppy running along.
What do you think? My back won't wait many more years.

The Little Helper or the Muck Truck seem like the best options but they fall short of ideal. Thomas maybe we could work together on this via email or something.

All minor issues are forgotten today as I'm off for an 8 hour drive to get the new(er) Spruce Branch Express vehicle. Online salvage auction, exciting stuff it's like christmas all over, hope I like it when I unwrap it. Gonna try a Suburban and trailer combo. Where would the loader ride on that?
