Bandit SG-75

That machine really does fly through the stumps. I’m curious, which wheel/teeth did you choose? We use Greenteeth, which cut real fast, but also throw a few chips all over the neighborhood on occasion.

The black looks nice, but I don’t like black machines because black shows dirt too well.
Our RG80 with Green Teeth out cuts the SG75 with the New River style wheel by 40% or better.

I got the new river
Always been green teeth fan
It does seem to contain chips pretty well with this setup , which is of the higher of importance level for us as I work in tight urban environments frequently where trees are near high value targets to keep safe / clean. Setups with chip containment improvement ideas are always welcome.
This machine eats them chips up under I see and requires a lot of cleaning under and around tracks or it will dribble debris wherever it walks for awhile I’ve noticed.

A trick to minimize chip dribbling - drive the machine forward into the chip pile before backing up, then back up, drive forward at a slight angle onto the pile, then you can kick the chips loose that are under the machine. That’s one of my biggest complaints about the machine, the way it holds on to chips.

I’ll give that a whirl

You know when Simone says 40 percent faster I’m like hunh
I’m not smart enough to say that
I’d say we had them on a side by side comparisons with similar stumps cause no 2 are same and the rayco ate one in 6 minutes and the bandit took 10 minutes

@Lumberjack is that sound about right on my time spent on stumps?
They all gotta be super productive , for the cost of the dang things.. I’ll say I will pay around 100k all said in done tax and interest
rg 80 new must cost 125k b before that unless they offer zero percent
I got what I thought a high price quote on rg74 around a buck twenty
Maybe they are that much better, I did not as I usually try to do and demo mutiple brands and put them next to each other.
I just was amazed at what the bandit did and went with my gut

A RG80 should be around $90k give or take. If you’re not in a territory you can shop it more easily.

Your time on stumps meaning 6 vs 10 minutes? Yes. I’ve got way more experience grinding than the guy that runs our SG75. I am not nearly as familiar with the SG75 as I am Raycos (bought an RG50 in 1998).

That being said, given the choice, me running the RG80 gets the job done in a third to a half less time.

The RG165 is pushing 2x as fast as the RG80 in bigger stumps, both running Green Teeth. The 1100s on the 165 can pull some massive chips; it’s great. The 165 is something like 3x faster than the SG75, although they haven’t been on the same job yet, and probably won’t be.

That’s impressive I see the sg 75 work and wonder how it can get much faster, but I take your word for it . Do the raycos throw chips far / all over Carl? The bandit has been great for chip containment
I had a Vermeer sc50 years ago that sold partly because it shot chip and shreds with damaging force if not heavily contained around it which was a time sink

Green Teeth throw more than the New River style teeth for sure, but it’s not a problem for us. We have two Stein guards when we need to contain the mess.

I ran a New River wheel on a RG85 back in the day after running Green Teeth… tooth life was better with the New River, but cutting speed was reduced.

My assumption is the SG75 with Green Teeth and a familiar operator would be similar in speed to the RG80, perhaps faster.

The SG75 with GreenTeeth is faster than the RG80 with a New River wheel for sure, I’ve run both, so the two with the same wheel are probably similar in speed, but the SG75 I believe is faster overall, especially if you add in travel speed on the ground.
