bandit 1590 clutch rebuild

So ordered a new clutch pack for our 1590 and the pilot bearing seems to be too small for the shaft, but only by a hair. Inner diameter of the pilot bearing is listed at 30mm but the shaft seems to come in at around 31mm. We've taken the emory cloth and cleaned the existing shaft well. A full millimeter seems to me to be to large a difference with a bearing race. I'm concerned I'll just mushroom the shaft if I keep pressing. Is it possible that I have an aftermarket shaft? Anybody have any experience to lend here?

That seems really strange. I can't think of any PTO manufacturer that would make a PTO or replacement shaft that would take a 31mm ID pilot bearing. Do you still have the old pilot bearing by chance?
