Back up tie in

When working on only a stalk, what options are there to back up a lanyard? I've used a friction saver with a prusik but it's a pain.

On a "stalk" I'm blocking down?

Around the trunk, below my lanyard.

23, You say you have used a FSaver w/ prusik but it was apain. I find an adjustable FS set-up to be just about the most pain free way to handle that situation ....So I'm wondering how you set it up?

If the tree is big enough in diameter I use my climbing rope binered to itself girth hitch style with a steel biner; then comes my climbing knot and if I'm way off the ground, a figure 8 on my side d-ring for rapid descent.

With my butterfly there is too much bridge to use an FC. I can't get the knot snugged up close enough to keep the FC tight.

Thanks for posting that, John.

Thanks Mark. That is my first try at an article. Next one will be out in a month or so: Lanyard Usage. It's hard to condense all that you want to say into one page.
