ART Positioner

Anyone have to replace the cam in their positioner yet. I have one about 1.5 years old, and no matter what kind of rope I string it with it seems to slip. Thought maybe the cam should be replaced but it doesnt look hardly worn at all.

Anyone else experience this?

Is the O-ring still snug?

Are you using 11mm or half inch rope?

Good questions, Tom.
I have several of the ART positioners, one is set up with 13mm & one is set up with 11mm
The 'O' rings have both fallen apart but I bought 'o' rings from the hardware store that work fine.
On another one I have I left the 'o' ring off and it also works fine for me. But then again I am used to it and dont mind that it does'nt grab real quick.

They are real nice for the flip lines, even with sappy rope they stick a bit but after awhile run smooth again when the sap hardens and wears off.

I think they retail for $100.
I also have had one, for about 1 1/2 years, I use with 11mm rope. I agree with tophopper, it's the best lanyard adjuster I've ever used. It doesn't have to be be unweighted to pay out rope.

The o rings were gone long ago and it never really affected the performance, it just began slipping lately. I will try new ones but Im certain it wont make a difference. Im using 1/2 inch rope in it and have tried blue streak, hi vee, yellow jacket, and yale xtc..... they alll slip

either does a knut or VT with pully under....the slipage thing is a problem with the positioner, also it some times releases when positioning by coming into contact with your harness or body (which really P's me off)... the knut or vt does'nt /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif

my two cents....

Johnnie,

This just came to me. I wonder what effect a little coarse sandpaper would have on the cam. If the scratches were perpendicular to the rope it might give a better bight.
