Arrested for feeding homeless people

Wow! It's a twisted world when stuff like this is happening ..guy who did the video makes some deep and serious points about life and the ways things are done in society..anybody who has compassion for someone who needs help should be praised not arrested for helping people. Deep shit man ..gets me thinking ..thanks for posting.

speaking of homes - Russell Brand's current home, worth over $15 million, don't see him giving much to homeless people -

Ha that's great ..the plot thickens and shows me its more twisted than I could even imagine. Maybe he does help people in need ,but I doubt it .

that is amazing, a kind old man arrested for helping the homeless, but 4 billion spent on campaigning for the midterms when nobody gives a flying f*ck about the midterms.
It's because nobody cares about the midterms that they spent $4 billion on them. easier to sway the vote. The easiest way to deal with social problems is by making them illegal. Then they become a penal system problem that can only be solved by the "prison-industrial complex". Yay for capitalism!

I always wonder, what cops would actually enforce this law? Really messed up. We live in a sick and twisted world. So sad!

Russell Brand sounds like such a good hearted fellow...bet he really cares for the homeless. Looks like he's put a lot of thought into the issue and not just made a kneejerk reaction as many celebrities seem to do. Speaking of which, can these celebrities even understand everyday life? Theirs doesn't really compare.

Think Brand would make a stink if the homeless were in his pretty front yard constantly?
Think any of those big evil companies might donate money to good causes too? Only for tax breaks probably, huh?

Not to defend him but, just lets keep the facts somewhat straight. His total net worth is $15 million, not the value of his home. He has the one in LA and the one in London, where the video is shot. That's more a converted industrial space than a former landed gentry estate.

As for big evil companies' philanthropy, here's a snap shot of a report for 2014 http://cecp.co/pdfs/giving_in_numbers/GIN_2014_summary.pdf

Note, that health and social services includes giving to hospitals and other medical services and facilities.

I'm a trustee of a non-profit in the environmental sector where I spend much of my spare time fundraising with an emphasis on the corporate sector. While they can be extremely generous, I have no illusions as to their motivations.
Oft times corporate giving comes after the same entity wreaked havoc on society in many forms.

What do you think motivated the creation of the Nobel Peace Prize? How about Carnegie Foundation? Andrew, while lofty in intentions did little while building his fortune to improve living conditions, education and wellbeing in his plants. Today we see many of the same things being done in the name of business.

When business acts first with all of society in mind and not the select few able to invest in them then we may begin to see the solution to much of the current social problems we are confronted with.

Well TH, one thing I can say for sure, I think you're a good dude. You and I have different political views but oh well. Another thing I can say for sure, sometimes it takes the different extremes to acquire middle ground.

Now you're sounding like my brother! Many years ago he made the same observation. As long as we can avoid the bloodshed on the way to the middle ground!
