Are you going to Expo 2017?

Don't leave out Skynyrd, Guns -n-Roses, and Hank Jr to a polka theme. Hated the noise when I arrived. Was much more tolerable after a few beers.
I'm not smart enough to alert anyone to this but Deevo, bonner, and all the rest of youin's made this a blast.

for the rhododendrons. Oh Man!! We really need to have avatar addons to the nametags!

Will you be around before the seminars? We can do breakfast or at least get a damn fine cup of coffee!
Yeah I be back down for the Jerry Bond talk this morning.

Afterwards she mentioned you were on the Buzz but thought she said Treehopper or something. Later on I thought was it Treehumper ???

As always, thought provoking. Not JD's pants blowing out but the expo.

The sessions were right on. I liked the information and, the direction this takes us as arborists. It sure sells books and classes to expand on the sessions and delve deeper into the subjects.

Meeting JD3000 in person for the first time, reconnecting with the Buzzed crowd, making new acquaintances in the Arbor-world and learning how they approach their business all really makes the effort and expense worthwhile.

Juiced to take it all back to base and out into the field and canopy!

Oh and Crimson Cup in the lobby of the center was great. Excellent local coffee and treats.

A shout out to all the vendors who make the trade show an invaluable component of the experience. From the great deals, events, and displays to the expert and friendly staff. The chance to try out or on new products, discuss challenges and share experiences with them is fantastic.

Tripp and his crew at Sherrilltree and Treestuff, Greg and Melissa at Shelter Tree, Harry, Megan and Eddie at Arbortec, Lincoln and Alienor at Cloggers, the list goes on and on.

Great after parties and and a very cool city. Who knew? Ok, JD did.

Thanks all!

also feel like I missed something
Well you could have had a burger the size of @Jeff 's head and also seen my hairy butt...

Made sure I did I nice sloooow exit from the car and shook my tush for them while standing on Goodale street....

So I then tied my jacket around my waist to look for my car which took longer than I thought...3rd level? 4th? While searching I had that "UH OHHHH!" Moment and shuffled/waddled back to the Convo. The lady at the info desk gave me that look upon exiting like "you just wrecked that jon didn't you?" Yes. Yes I did.

Also went and introduced myself to a huge dude with cowboy boots who I assumed was @Magnum783. It wasn't... and he didn't seem to appreciate my company for a few uncomfortable moments. Then I actually met the real deal and it was a pleasure. To all others I met briefly or for an extended period, it was a pleasure and stay in touch via PM, texts, emails, etc. @treehumper , @deevo , @ATH , @treebilly and any others I'm forgetting. Actually met Rob for the first time twice this week which is hard to do.

@Tom Dunlap and @guymayor I saw you two a couple times from a ways away and then couldn't find either of you again to introduce myself. Oh well, next time. Also, Tom, you look wild man. Wild. James Taylor's wacky brother kinda thing going on. Groovy.

@DSMc Sylvia. It was a pleasure meeting and spending some time with you this week. And before you do the same, thank you for using some of my work pictures and descriptions in your presentation. It was excellent and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future. I was getting texts that morning that "some lady from Montana is showing pictures and whatnot of yours in this talk..." Yes, yes I know. I'm in the room with you. Went on to explain how that came about later. We had a nice Plant Walk downtown which was a bit of a nice reminder of the college days.
Many other good sessions this week as well.

For those of you who asked, yes you can always send me questions about work and whatnot and I'll get back to you asap. Multiple pictures, close-ups especially, and details always help.

Great to meet you too JD... Wish I would have had opportunity to meet more folks. Being new over here at the Buzz, don't know who is who yet.

On the trade show floor, I bumped into and later connected with a friend/classmate from Virginia Tech that I hadn't known anything of for over 19 years! We were in the traditional forestry major but both have found our way to arboriculture.

IMG_2104.webp Got home a bit ago and decided to keep the party going while sporting some swag I picked up. Had a great time. See you guys next year in NC
Jason downtown looks great. How long till that is finished? That's one heck of a project they have going on.

Next question: Anybody buy something big?

I needed new climbing boots...was planning to shop for a good price on ArbPros (have 1st generation that I like and they are about done). I picked up a pair of Drayer Tango Light boots. They felt pretty good, seem well built. $140 and they included an eye-to-eye (which was also on my shopping list). (at the Berger Tools booth)

Picked up a CBN wheel for the chainsaw grinder from Comstock. Not much of a bargain at $10 off...I was going to buy one anyhow so can't complain.

The thing I wasn't planning to buy but it still found its way home with me was an IML Resistograph. I've gone back and forth about whether to get one for doing tree risk assessments. They were selling units they have used for training at less than half the cost of a new one so I pulled the trigger.

Would have bought a Husqvarna T536Li XP, if I could have found a great deal...but I didn't see any for sale. Could still pick one up for 20% off on some of the post sales, but I was hoping for just a little better deal. Don't need it...but was hoping I could find an offer I couldn't refuse. I think the demand they are generating will keep the price up. I did use one at the Husqvarna booth and that only left me wanting it a little more. Worked great for the few cuts I made. They say the battery will last a little longer than a tank of gas.

Ha ha lots of great memories made for sure, had a heck of a time with you and your guys, as well as everyone else I met and caught up with! That band was so amazing ! Nice to finally meet the elusive @JD3000 thank goodness I didn’t see you splitting of the pants episode from the day before!

Where are those grounds keeper rakes that you had at the expo? [emoji5] I met you (and your employee?) briefly, but never properly introduced myself (Fred).

No big purchases but did able to check out and try on the new and upcoming chainsaw pants, 3 zubats, a gomtaro for fine pruning, new pair of hand pruners, books, replacement boots and have some other goodies being shipped.

But the big purchase is the knowledge from the sessions. Just a foundation to build on but that's what is needed.

They were on my 2nd of many trips back to my truck to unload! I bought 5 more for the trucks. I think I remember meeting you now also!

..., a gomtaro for fine pruning, ...
I have a gomtaro and like it. But I really like the smallest straight blade tsurugi for small trees - it fits in tight spots nicely and with cuts great. The gomtaro makes slightly finer cuts...but doesn't fit in tight branches as well. You won't regret having it.

Great point on the knowledge gaimed being the best investment coming out of the days!

Got a Tsurugi. Wanted a straight blade for situations you mentioned. I've had the Oyacata for years now but it gets a bit wobbly after a while.

Zubats were a great price but I have a few already.
