Arborwear

I like my tech pants, with one minor complaint. I have hips. Tech pants and hips do not get along. If stretch tech pants come out, I am all over it. Tech pants are great because they last FOREVER.
Any thoughts on AW climbing pants that offer chainsaw protection? Is that in the future? If so, I definately call testing those out.

I climb with old Navy cargo pants. They last a year and a half and only cost 15 dollars. They also have great pockets for tools and gloves. They whear out at the pant cuff after a year. but when that happens i just cut the cuff off and get another half a year out of them.

whatever, pants at mountaineering stores are way way expensive, and they get torn up in a hot second. You havent given any specifics on pants that can compete with arborwears. Whats the price on those pants you showed in your picture? they look to me like I could thrash them in a minute or two

Now ow whats is expensive 60 a year 179 every 4-5 years come now tell me. Any ways please I beg you to trash them in what you say a min or 2. I'll even pay you myself the money spent on them if you can even rip them in a week. Come on mouth what you say deal or no deal.

Jim they cost around 179 like I say though 179 for 4 years or 70 a year rather do the 179 cuase I still have them and going on the fith year. Maybe arborwear will see how to make the extra kn ee and their wont wear so fast. First he has to tell his china import to change will take sometime.

What happen to Bull and his big mouth. OOOOO brownie boy and your puss AT crane, wants some call me girlscout. But like I said you can't afford me. If I'm going to work for someone I damn sure am going to live in the same town. If you can't afford to live in the same town as the boss then he aint paying ya enough.

Seems strange that they never have, i guess thats why arborwear has never really taken off in australia before.

Here only cowboy hacks work in trees without chainsaw protective pants, on the ground or aloft.

I understand that is very different in the US though????

Seems almost nobody uses them???

Only real use for them would be rec or comp climbing.

Ed,

Lets be clear. You have derogatory statements about every aspect of our industry. Think about someone outside of our industry coming on here and reading your posts. They will think we are all a bunch of drunk cowboys!

NEVER said I wanted to hire you, nor would I ever offer you a job. Not sure why you thought this?

What did those poor AT cranes ever do to you? Why call them pussies? They work hard, probably harder than anyone else in our company.

having the ABILITY to live in a town, and having the DESIRE to live in a town are two different things. i am unsure where these statements came from as well? Almost everyone in our company, save for the college interns, can afford to live in Essex. NONE choose to, personal preference I guess. Beautiful town though with great schools, fire, police, and multiple great Tree companies.

lets leave this poor thread alone. If you want to chat some more you can PM me or give me a call. You have my number and I am always available to chat with fellow Arborists!

be well, and stay safe!

Stretch is the only way to fly...I used to rock the arborwear every day; they are quality pants. However pants that stretch, wick moisture, dry quickly, and do NOT restrict any movement allow me to get through those really tough jobs with one less stress in my life. I had the inconsistent fit issues with arborwear as well...very nice people though, for sure!

AW would definitely be wise to add stretch pants, with and without protection. And would some one please create the perfect tree climbing boots...that would last more than 4 months!

...oh and gloves that grip rope but never wear through on long rapid descents;)

As for the boots, if you like a loggers style boot, check out West Coast Shoe Company. I have had several pairs for over 5 years! Some soles and 1 rebuild and they are still going strong.

I've worn logger boots before but the eat boot I've ever tried for both spikes and for pruning are my lowas. My asolos are great as well but my lowas are my Cadillac shoes. They are a year old, a little less water proof then they used to be but they are still comfortable.

My asolos are holding up incredibly well too. Not as comfy as my lowas but still a dynamite boot.

They handle spurs much better then my baileys boots and are a ton lighter.

I usually shop for boots on sierratradingpost.com. They always have what I'm looking for at very reasonable prices.

Please proceed, Maybe we could start a I'm a fat wanttabe bitch thread also. Nothing worst then a fat bitch that hugs the trunk waiting for his crane to pick him up to set up the next pick, right tubby

Over papered piss hounds gotta love'em.

I loved my lowas too...but I guess that is for another thread...just being sarcastic.

But really though. I was on Honeybrothers site and some others. Euros have a radically better selection of "tree climber" specific clothing. Soooo much more advanced!

Until Arborwear, or whoever steps up, i guess i will have no choice but to shop rock climbing or ski clothes. bummer.

my biggest peeve with AW, is the tight fitting pant cuffs. don't fit over Wescos well, or my Asolos.

[/ QUOTE ]

Same here; with the tech pants the thighs seem to have way too much room and then they taper into this really tight cuff at the bottom. Kinda goofy.

My first pair of arborwear pants I've had for three years and I still wear them every week, except there are holes forming around the knees (they are the single knee, light weight kind for the tropics). It'll be a sad day when I can't wear those anymore

.

If arborwear masters the correct fit (same as stretch air, which have a great taper and fit, from what I've seen) then they will sell a TON of pants I'll bet, because it's much cheaper than dropping 200 for a pair of stretch airs. Looking forward to the day! My hunch is that tree climbers drop that kind of money partly for the materials and partly for the fit.

Hey Arborwear if you are reading this, I just dropped @ $400 for another year's supply of climbing clothes. None of it was arborwear, but it very well could have been....I really don't enjoy shopping at REI and the like, because I would much rather support tree guys like yourself but you're not leaving me/us with satisfactory alternatives to what the rock/ mountaineering shops are putting out.

Please understand that I mean no malice with this post, but hopefully encouragement...to spur you on towards innovation.

I would pm, but I'm not sure who you are.

Matt

OH look! Stephan popped in long enough to comment on some chick's assets.

I have three pair of double front pants that tore just like TreeCo's, on the seam where the double panel ends. I re-stitched mine before they got bad.

It's a design issue, if you want double thickness you have to end the top panel somewhere unless you want a REALLY sweaty crotch. The single thickness side of the seam is going to fail sooner or later because the other side is twice as strong and it will fail right at the stress riser where single meets double.

I'm totally happy with fit and quality of Arborwear but I won't be buying more cotton. Next ones will be Tech Pants or better yet, Pfanners or SIPs. My best climbing pants right now are Lowe Alpine micro-fiber pants... I can't find them anymore though.

After this summer, I'm hooked on synthetics, I'm tired of being soaked all day.
