Arbor Wear

Are arbor wear pants the way to go? After climbing now for a little over 4 years I have got quit the collection of ripped up jeens (non arbor wear). Are the arbor pants really as solid as some say they are?

There are lots of differing opinions on the subject, but I have found ArborWear, specifically the Tech pants, to be extremely durable. I can't even compare them to jeans, they hold up so much better under all conditions.

the only way to go!!! Arbor Wear does hold up. The Tech pants are the most comfortable and very practical. No more ripped jeans here....changed to Tech pants about 6 years ago!

I love the Tech pants as well. I was one of those hold outs. Everyone else on our crew had them and I wasnt sure. I bought a pair at ISA last year and never looked back. I just noticed yeterday a small tear in the cuff of the pant leg

dont know how that got there.

They aren't bulletproof, but that tear will be the same size (or near it) through multiple wash cycles if you leave it alone (though I am sure you'd be better off repairing it). Compare that to jeans--start a pinhole today, wash tomorrow, and the hole will be dime-sized. Wash again, and it's silver-dollar sized. You get the idea.

I love my tech pants!

I just bought a pair of tech pants. Haven't had a chance to try them out at work yet, as I had to send them back for a size larger. But when I tried them on they felt great. I can tell they will work great for climbing in.

I do have one question though. How often do you wash these? I know those with stretch airs and saw protection pants, they usually go all week without washing them. Is it the same with tech pants? If not all week, maybe a few days at a time? I was going to buy another pair, so I could wear one for two days, and another for three, and alternate them back and forth each week so they wear evenly.

I wash them everytime I wore mine.At first I would hang to dry then I got kinda chubby and didnt care anymore so I dried them.I actually got really use to pants with more stretch so I gave all my tech pants away. But to answer your question I would wash them after each wear, I think they retain alot more dirt and stank than stretch Airs

Tech Pants have been my work [green] or sales[tan] for years. They get washed when they're dirty just like any clothes. Washing doesn't break them down or wear them out.

NICE I thought wearing them a week straight would make them stiff-stand those babies up in a corner.I once wore my stretch airs 2 weeks straight during an ice storm, nasty.

if its real hot Ill wash them on the job site with the hose and jump back up into the tree sopping wet. you can go swimming in them too. they dry fast. dont put them in the dryer.

I just bought a pair of black Tech pants at the Ohio TCC and climbing in the rain today they dried faster then any pants I have had before. They fit like they were tailored for me and appear very durable (time will tell). I am very pleased with the quality and the comfort of the Tech pants. Arborwear makes great products.

I really resisted AW Tech pants for years due to the $$$. Was finally given a pair by a generous fellow and really fell in love with them. Utterly superior to jeans. Less water retention, less stink retention, everything everyone else has said...

BUT: When I tried to buy another pair the same size - SURPRISE! They were slightly smaller. Since the first pair fit my waist perfect, the new pair was TOO SMALL. I measured it before washing - definitely smaller than the stated size. AW sent me the next size up at no charge, but it is two inches TOO BIG.

Until they start coming in one inch increments on the waist sizes, I won't buy anymore. I gotta have pants that fit. But that first pair is still in perfect shape and I've been wearing it climbing 2-3 days a week for well over a year.

What! You don't do your own laundry? If any of my pants shrink I have only myself to blame....
