Anything wrong with this picture?

I think it would worry other drivers on the road. The last thing I would want is someone to get mad at my business because they are worried about something falling out the back of a truck. (Even though it may not fall out in the first place). It may leave a bad impression.

Other than that, I think they loaded it fine. With a full bed of chips the truck would absorb bumps better anyway.

You hit the nail in the head! That is EXACTLY my point. Driving behind that loaded truck would be a bit scary. I agree, things would be hard to fall out, but why risk it? The main point I made to them was that people would view that as being lazy or sloppy... and that may reflect to them what our work looks like.

Load the tools correctly. I bet the CHP would not say that was a safe thing to do.

As long as we're on the subject of stowing gear.Anyone got a good picture what a tool box should look like?

Here is how my tool box set up is. It is a mirror image on the other side of the truck.

im the foreman of the company i work for, we have 5 guys, me included, one day we left a tree work ahead sign in the street after the job was done, we didnt realize it til we did an inventory check with our inventory check sheets and saw we were one less, my boss made us buy him a new one, 70 bucks, about 15 bucks each. after that, we always check the inventory sheet

do you have check sheets on the truck for use at the end of the job? I think that could be good for some crews.

This makes me want to take pictures of our trucks. We have a bit of a mess on our hands. How do you get from a messy truck to the point where you guys are at?

Just put all bags and store all gear right after the job , we have a compressor right off the truck so we can blow all the saws before we store away in the box . I give my guys 2hr every Friday to clean out the trucks and chipper and get them ready for the following wk,,,

Later in SO-CAL

I try but some of the other guys don't really care for the most part. They will give a week or twos worth of effort and then its back to an unholy mess.
