Anyone work with ski googles?

Any where below 30°F, I literally steam ... a lot ... CLOUDS. Tried safety glasses, treated with "anti-fog" ... they fog ... can't see ... gotta take 'em off! Tried screen googles ... get bits in my eyes ... can't see ... gotta take 'em off! Not using anything means I'll serve time for PPE crime!

Every year I help my neighbor (83 now) get his firewood in. He tells me I'm the only one he's ever known to actually 'steam'. This year he suggested - "ski googles". They seem to work ... so far. They don't interfere with my helmet ... but they're BIG!

Anyone else try ski googles? I'd rather find some really good safety glasses that actually work for a serious fogger like me. Got any recommendations???

On windy days, when I've had to face the wind using a chainsaw, I've used regular ANSI approved googles. Beats the heck out of gettin pummeled with saw chips in the eyes.
I've had 2 ER trips to get wood particles removed from my eyes while wearing safety glasses. Doesn't happen with googles.

I know familytree did that he has Facebook pictures of it. If they work they work...I bet you could find some that are rated as well.

Bugz are rated but I watched a pair fog up in just a few moments in just a light workout of a climb and the climber flung 'em off and said "nnnnnnnope" $85. I think. He hadn't used an anti-fog like cat crap or anything. Maybe someone else might have better results though. Who knows. I can use almost anything and not have them fog up. Right now I use a light blue cleary, Z87. I'll send you a pair if you want Singlejack.

I tried everything except ski googles and nothing works even a high end paint ball goggle, welding, mountain bike
Now I got safety contacts.

Good ski goggles don't fog because they have vents that circulate the air while moving down the moutain, this evens out the temps on the out and inside of the lense, the second the air flow stops the fog starts. I do wear goggles but only when its real cold and windy. Good luck with your hunt for the holy grail of PPE.

Have worn glasses since grade 4.

Have lived in northern climes. Fort Mac, Edmonton.

Dish Soap. Seriously. Liquid dish soap.

Clean your glasses, dry with non-paper products.

Smear with dish soap, let dry. Buff, again no paper products. Paper scratches plastic.

I use the same on my motorcyle helmet visor, and I've ridden from Edmonton to San Jose, from Toronto to Vancouver and back twice.

Also use it on my Hockey helmet visor, only steams up if I get benched for a bad play.

I know it works, but it does fail if you also get rained on real heavy so I wear a helmet with a beak during the rainy season here.

Hope this helps.

winter is perfect time to use ski goggles. ask treswinger when he was up here 06-07 he laughed at me for using them. cant live with the hassle free eye ppe.

I've never used ski goggles for tree work.

I converted to metal Bugz a long time ago, until some one pointed out Safe Eyes. They are impact resistant stainless steel eye goggles.

I got tired of fogging up and getting saw dust in the eyes nearly every day, so I converted to mesh goggles a long time ago. I started off with Bugz, but after a small hanger hit me in the eye of the goggle, and punctured a small hole in it, I converted to the Safe Eyes. Safe Eyes are impact resistant.

Contrary to Bugz mesh, the Safe Eyes don't have sun glare at different angles.

The only thing is they cannot offer U.V. protection. So, on snowy/sunny days, it can be a bit bright.

The other drag is, I believe there are no U.S. distributors. So, shipping can be a while coming from down under.

safe eyez are awsome, i have them round my neck & ski googles on my lid & use them when i'm gona have stuff directly into my eyes, they do fog but long after everything else has fogged, wash lenses, dry then use mer polish & buff off.

On the way home Tuesday, stopped at my local motorcycle shop and got a pair of WINDMASTER glasses (below). Worked them all day yesterday. It wasn't very cold but I did generate some steam - they did not fog. Instead, some beads of condensation did form but they didn't obstruct vision. It should be noted that I had to try every brand in the shop 'til I found one that sealed well enough to keep the dust out of my eyes.

I've got a pair of the mesh glasses but my eye doc fusses at me because they don't have any UV protection. And, I've found that fine dust gets through them and irritates my eyes.

Motorcycle glasses are the best ... so far. I'll report back after this warm spell is over.
