Anyone in New England up for a winter rec climb?

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

The 29th is fine with me too.

I will go ahead and check out Rollins Park in Concord this week to look things over. I will get directions for you guys, but you can also just Google it too.

Hope you don't mind walking in the snow from the parking lot, because I don't know how much the city has actually snow blowed from the paths around the trees.

Yes, I own a GRCS too, for those of you who want to check it out.

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

Chris,You are THE MAN! It will be great to meet you on the 29th! In the next day or so I will post in "dates to remember" but January 29th is the official date. A little bit a snow is no big thing for us guys in New England. Tell all your friends!

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

Glad to help out.

I'm getting things squared away with the City right now. They may even send a crew over on the 29th to chip up any dead wooding that we do.

we have room for many more than one. Would be awesome to have you their. It's nice to climb with no $ or time hanging over your head. Will be a good time.
Speaking of time, when should we kick this thing off. Say around 9:00 or 10:00. I'm flexible. Could do earlier, could do later.

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

I was thinking 9:30 myself to start. I already have at least 5 others who will be coming. Anyone out there got a spare harness I have a couple of newbies who want to try climbing out. No sweat if you don't I will make something work.and All ladies and gentlemen are invited provided you are safe and you play well with others.

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

If I can get away I'd be heading up from Delaware on Thursday and probably staying with folks in Northwood. I have a double line ropewalker setup and the F8 system (pseudo Ddrt on an SRT setup).

mattbc: I have a spare saddle (medium) but it is not a full harness style.

I might be able to bring the Ropetek Wraptor if Paul can free one up and ship it up to me by the time I leave:

That is Concord NH. That would be the state to our north. They have some really nice mountain's that us flat-landers don't get to see much of.
Where in MA are you located, I might be able to give you a ride.

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

Just a little review of what we have worked out for a recreational climb and demos on January 29th at the Concord City Parks starting at 9:30.....
1. SRT demo by Chris Girard
2. GRCS thanks again to Chris Girard
3. Possibly a Roptec Raptor Demo
4. Possibly a Porta-winch Demo
5. Footlock comp (pending full body harness ETC.(safety first))
6. Possible NHAA involvement
6. Tons of Awesome climbing!

If you have more to add feel free!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

Well I'm on the nhaa bord so I can put a good word in for this thing at the bord meeting on the 15th. Some one should bring a waver, that's all I'm thinking. I would hate to see this thing get shut down with all this cool gear there. Im planning to take a vacation day to come and hang with yous guys.

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

Hey Matt, try to send you a PM, but it won't go through.

The place that we're going to be is Rollins Park in the south end of Concord. Two minutes off of Exit 12 on I93.

Yes they do Scot and I let them know that last week. Working on the legalities with them right now.

Re: Anyone in New England up for a winter rec clim

Scott, I'm working on the waiver right now with Scott Carlson from the City Of Concord.

Any chance that you'll let me attend the NHAA meeting on the 15th to discuss this more, and also our upcoming rigging workshop in Apr? Better yet, how about taking me in on the board as an aux. member? I'm already an NHAA member.

I have a lot of ideas for workshops that I would love to talk about. Things that our small state oh NH can use.
