Another Home Depot find...

JeffGu

Been here much more than a while
In my last rummaging adventure at Home Depot, I also found this Husky cordura nylon bucket thingy...

With some minor mods, it makes a great bucket for an arborist block. Also has 6 small pockets around the bottom on the inside, and 4 larger pockets around the bottom of the outside, for carabiners, quick links, or whatever. Would make a nifty throwline bucket, too. Lots nicer than my coffee can one. :)

Paid $10 for it.

I have two of them, one stows my splicing gear and is overflowing and one holds some rigging gear, slings and such. It would be nice if they made them in a size that you could stow a climbing line. Would sure beat the high dollar bags.

Yes, it would! ToughBuilt has a big one (sold by Menards and a few places online) that I use for a rope bag... also better made than any of the "real" ropebags I've bought. It usually comes with a bonus (another of their smaller products) that changes every year. Menards had one that somebody swiped the bonus product... sold it to me for $20 (usually about $70) and it's my favorite. Made very much like this Husky stuff, heavy Cordura and just great construction, especially for the prices. I have 150' of 1/2" in it, think it will easily hold 200' because I also have my helmet w/visor in there and a couple of old bath towels I use for wiping the ropes down.

Looks like im scouting Home Depot and Lowes today...

Thanks alot, lol. Good find though. I have two "Depot rope bags" from back in 2008 that are still goin strong. Keep a 1/2 by 13' arbormaster in one for rigging, its been tossed out of more trees than i can remember and still in great shape. Plus it actually stands up to flake the rope back in.

Whats the dimensions on the red and black mini bucket you found?

It's 5-1/2" in diameter, and 8-1/2" tall. I forget that dimensions are harder to guess from a picture. I need to remember to include them in my posts.

Top edge is rope reinforced, it's double layer Cordura. There's some kind of plastic stiffener material between the layers on the bottom (black) half of the bucket. Really well made item for only ten bucks. Better than the $30 one I bought from an online arborist supplier.

Bought these today.

Large is 9" diameter x 11" tall. 8 pockets outside, 1 zipper pocket inside. $9.97

Small is 5" diameter x 8" tall. 4 pockets outside, 5 inside. $5.97

Both have drawstring tops and a single padded handle. Very stiff compared to similar rope bags.

Checked my receipt for the small one... you're right, it was even cheaper than I thought!
Hard to believe the construction is this good at these prices. Believe I'll be getting some more before somebody figures that out and raises the prices.
