Another Fall

Sad to hear of another fall from a broken TIP.

I have always thought that one of the potentially most dangerous thing we do in tree work is climbing on a ground set TIP...and have always taught/told/ warned associates and trainees to be extra careful.

I sometimes use binoc's, but don't regularly carry them. Think it's time!

I always try to get a rather large tip, simply because I am fat. NO, that is just one of the reasons. When I set a throwline into a tree to footlock into it, I make sure the tip is possibly even bigger than something I would tie into. Mostly just because I cannot thoroughly see what will be holding me on the way up. The thought of falling forty or fifty+ ft. to the ground has always made me nervous. The larger tip just gives me the confidence to get it out of my head while ascending.
