Another big job

6 trees- 1 Ponderosa pine, 5 douglas fir

85 ton crane and man basket

The logs came out in marketable lengths which was good for the customer considering how much he spent on having those trees taken out.

I was a bit intimidated having 30+ foot logs hanging over my head especially considering how far away the crane was sitting.

What did you do with the logs? Cut them up or put them on a flatbed / log truck?

We had a self loader come and take the logs to a mill that would take those large logs. Most of the mills around here aren't equipped to handle big trees these days.

Those trees were just around 100' tall. The crane operator liked pulling me up as fast as he could. I would get in the man basket with a helper who would help me get out of the basket when I got to the tree and then he would pull me up as fast as the crane would go. My stomach would usually be sitting on the ground still and I'd be up 100 feet in about 5 seconds and climbing out onto a log within a minute of leaving the ground.
