Ann Arbor fatality

Dude I'm going on I think 2 years(tops) on the same rope bridge, first thing I'm doing at work today is changing that bridge. I inspect it often, but sounds like I'm past time span. Really glad I looked at the this thread, feel pretty silly all the sudden flying the bridge for sooo long.

Nick, what do you think about using 12 strand such as true blue for a rope bridge? I don't like using core ropes for bridges, harder to inspect.

I like to use 2 rings on my bridge to increase the bend radius, and also back up the main bridge with a 3/8 bridge (which is tied slightly loose, so it doesn't see as much wear).

I don't really care for 12 strand and I've always felt that extraneous redundant backup systems just create more hazard than they mitigate. Using a 3/8s bridge as a secondary backup is unnecessary and creates a potential for gear lash and entanglement.

Kind of like using 2 carabiners because you don't want to inspect/replace the first one.

I think 1/2" sixteen strand is a good choice if you want a non core dependent bridge rope.
