Reaching Higher, LLC is a growing tree service seeking experienced Tree Climbers to play any of the roles above. We are specialists in large and limited access removals so if you like a challenge you’ll enjoy working here. We’re looking for professionals willing to learn and perform tree climbing/groundwork using a chainsaw, pole saw, chipper, stump grinder, and other heavy machinery.

Tree Climber Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience Climbing Trees
• Experience with removals and spur-less pruning required
• Experience with ropes, rigging and safety standards appropriate to the job.
• Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Must pass a company short working interview on equipment usage
• Must complete or clearly demonstrate Tree Climber Apprentice test and certifications.
• Must be willing and able to work in all outdoor weather conditions all year round.
• Must be willing and able to work 40 hours or more per week when requested.
• Certified Arborist Credentials would be Nice to Have
• Experience with crane assisted removals is a plus (We work with cranes as large as 100 ton class)

We aren’t just looking for another climber to work for the company, we are looking for a team member who wants to push the company onward and upward while quickly advancing his own career. This would be a great opportunity for a contract climber who wants a little more stability, or a small business owner who is tired of the headaches of running his own company, but still wants the freedom and authority of managing a crew (and down the road, all the daily operations) his way.

I have never lived in, or even visited Ohio, so unfortunately I can’t speak with much authority. We do have a lot of big deciduous tree though, around here we have a lot of trees in the 80-120’ range, and many of the trees here are rather wide, decurrent types, so the climbing is challenging, in a different way from climbing the mile high telephone poles of the Pacific Northwest.

We've got monster cottonwoods and maples out here too!! Sounds about like Georgia's climbing then. I loved it tbh. Mostly pruning or a fair mix of removals? Phc? Etc

Interesting, I’ve only lived and worked in PA, traveled much of the East coast for vacations, but that’s about it.

We are probably 80% removal, we do a lot of big tree and limited access removals, and a good bit of crane work as well. No phc at present, maybe we will get back into it in the future, but we just don’t have the staff to deal with it these days.
 
Staffing is hard this day and age. We'll see how the next month + goes with the search. I'll keep you updated.

Got a gopro this weekend, so might be able to get some videos of climbs in soon.

Thank you, I would appreciate that. I know it’s a far move, but I think you would like working with us.
 
This position is still open/open again if anyone is interested in work in southeast PA. We are also looking for a spider lift operator, if that’s more your style.

The pay will be worth your while, and you’ll find the company to be a place where you can feel at home. We are generally flexible and tend to be fairly easy going, and we have all the equipment (always well maintained) to make the work as easy as we know how.
