Alturnamat prices

Hello!

I am wondering who on here knows the best prices for Alturnamats.

Looking at buying a bunch, maybe combining orders with another tree service or two locally, and wondering who out there bought theirs from where.

I will PROBABLY ultimately end up going with Sherrill, more than likely (sorry Luke), because they do the price match. Luke, if you match prices, I would definitely consider working with you.

Looking for prices on the 3x8 size, white, cleated on ONE side. At least 2 dozen.

Thanks for any input.

If you've got the room for the 4x8's id highly recommend them. Due to configuration we were only able to fit the 3 footers on our new bucket, and its definitely more challenging keeping tires on those compared to the 4 footers. Better than nothing though!

Alturnamats are not only used by the tree biz. My old boss bought a bunch from the govt. after the last inauguration. They were being used to protect the turf where people were standing. Think outside the box on this one.

Try this.

Without the ribbing, those will shoot right out from under the tires on a slope, or rain, snow, frost, pavement, concrete, etc. Just sayin'.

Thanks for the input, everybody. Definitely not going to experiment with something without at least one side cleated. Too much invested in this to find out the hard way. But thanks for the idea, Jamin, I may look into that for other apps sometime.

JeffL, I'm pretty set on the 3x8s, and have a ton of experience with them. I purchased 6 of the 4x8 size maybe 5 years ago, and they sit at the shop unused. Tooooo heavy, and I haven't had an issue staying on the 3 footers. I have thought about the 4 footers for my mini, however, but I would probably have the same issue as what you are saying, especially driving on the edges of the mats.

Banjo, are you saying that you have a secret source in the government to buy these things from? PM me if so!

I am in need of about 16 - 20 additional. A few years ago I had me secretary cull through all the dealers we could find. Ended up the best deal was from a company in Tampa. You always have to include shipping in the total price too as it can vary greatly.

I have heard of going with flat on one side. I am curious as to what the benefits are? I have had them shoot out with ribbing on both sides. I would think they would be too slick?

I have always ordered the 3' wide, but may be interested in going with the 4'... going to be heavy!

If you're interested in a "group buy" I'm in.

I've certainly thought the same... They wouldn't be perfect for those conditions. But, for most conditions, they'd be fine. I'm lucky to live in a dry climate.

Besides, I bet one could imprint/brand traction on those easily.

I've been looking through a few local guys that use them all the time as they do Seashore work and mostly on Multimillion dollar properties. They too pay way too much for the mats. I think one said $2,200 for 60 lineal ft or something. I have decided to go with 1 Inch plywood as a 4x8 sheet is $50 delivered. I actually ordered 10 sheets today, expect to see them Monday.

The pack comes with some extra stuff:
1 - AMRK Turn-A-Rack Storage and Transportation Rack with four (4) way fork lift entry
20 - RTL-SG Turn-A-Links
2 - AMHH Handi-Hooks
2 Custom Nylon Ratchet Straps

Maybe that is the price difference?

I bought my first set around the same time Daniel did. I remember paying around $150 a sheet. I still have 9 of the 10 original that I purchased. We destroyed one a few years ago...

They carry a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately it doesn't cover stump grinder damage... Someone got a little too close!

that has happened twice now. Not by me of course.

buying plywood is a waste of money. I did that once when I was young and stupid. you will learn.

I have 10 of the 3x8 with tread on both sides.

I have two more with smooth on one side, tread on the other side.

I wanted two with the flat side, so that when it is 95 degress and the driveway blacktop is soft, you can put the flat side down for the transition from driveway to yard.

This way, when crane or heavy truck runs over it, it does not stamp the driveway with the tread pattern.

Other benefits of a one sided smooth mat: Put the smooth side down, place it under a log or heavy limb that you want to winch across the yard. mat stays on the butt end (especially if you bend the leading end upward) and skids with the log or limb = no damage to the lawn.

I really like the 3x8.

My brother has 20 of the 4x8.

Screw the 4x8! On a good day, I carry two 3x8's at the same time.
