Adjustable Friction Saver

For those of you that have used it, what do ya'll think of the AFS (SherrillCatalog)? I'm thinking about getting one and was just looking for some input.

Gotta love sherrill offering an adjustable on the market, but personally I prefer 16 or 24 strand to 3 strand dacron. Dacron is awfully stiff, I like my FS to be more flexible. Personal opinion though, not dissing sherrill's offering at all.

It can be said both ways for stiff or flexible ones. Like I said, not ripping either, just throwin out my 2 cents. Ive had better luck personally with flexible, but I also know guys who like the stiffer ones. Either way, the setup is more important than the material. Set it in a tight crotch, and it'll probanbly get stuck either way!

I like the concept of the AFC, I just like using an appropriate steel carabiner instead of the large ring. It just makes the system more efficient.

I use it on most of my removals and some pruning jobs when I need a little more play in the climbing system.

Been using a AFC for some time now. Been making em' with DMM Boa and small alum. ring on a prussik. Great for palms. My next one will be steel.

Has anyone tried the 'sirius multisaver' yet?
They have a splice/stitch combo that looks ultra strong.
I like the idea of having a ring on each end plus one on the prussic in the middle. Would it be possible to put one on the end of the sherrill one, or is it just a back splice?

This is an AFC that I made years ago. the configuration has served very well and can be made with components that most people have already.

When I've needed more AFCs and didn't have time to splice them I just tied a scaffold hitch for the large biner.

I made my 3rd recently splicing the large ring on yale xtc with the small ring on a tenex prussik loop. I love this setup. the only down side is the barrel knot I use on the end like in Toms pic above, can get stuck in some tight crotches, but nothing a throw ball can't get unsutck :-)
