a cheaper mobile sales solution

Routzy is made by the same people as the smartserviceinfo you were looking at. How does that make sense?

Looks like a slick ap. I wish these sales softwares would go past point of sale into work scheduling and management better.

I just started using Routzy. So far so good. I finally found how to sync my customer list into the system. The interface is pretty smooth and the only annoyance is not being able to link into my present accounting software. For 25 a month I think I can get over it!

I've decided to spring for the $25 and give it a shot. So far the estimates seem cluttered with a lot of info that I don't need (like unit of measurement and so on) but I've also emailed the company and they already responded saying that I can remove it- so I am going to try to figure that out. If I can indeed set it up to create estimates the way I think they should look, I'll happily pay $25 a month for routzy.

ArborGold costs thousands per year. That's just nuts.

I'd like to hear how well routzy is working post sale. I find that the pre sale and quoting phase of business is the simplest and the shite hits the fan when you are shceduling a few crews, tracking payments, tracking producting and evaluating sales and production. Many of these softwares seem to stop after the sale is made which i find frustrating.

Routzy does look pretty good though, better than several others i've looked at.

I'm so close to laying down the $1200 for the arborgold ipad ap and then re-evaluating software this winter. I'm still looking for the simplest and cheapest plan and $1200 seems pretty good for something that will do what i need and make my life simpler in the short term.

I have yet to hear from anyone who is using the AG ipad ap and i'd love some feedback if there are users out there.

Big changes are coming with cloud based biz management software over the next few years and i don't want to commit to a change until the some leaders in the market start to become obvious.

$1,200 for ArborGold? They told me it was a lot more than that. They emailed me this http://www.arborgold.com/orderform.pdf then over the phone explained I had to pay $3,275 upfront AND $895 to set up the mobile portal AND another $600/yr to USE the mobile app.

I hung up pretty quick after hearing this. If it is a lot cheaper and I'm wrong, I'd sure like to know.

Um, that's lots for sure. I bought the software a few years ago so i'm not factoring that cost into the mix. i spent i think $2k in 2009 and a few hundred a year for support. The iPad app is an additional 400 or 500 to set up then 600 per year.

Those prices you were quoted look about reasonable for a one time purchase cost. Expensive for sure, but if you can work the software as it's designed and your running at least a few crews, it's a reasonable amount to spend.

If i wasn't already committed to AG i would certainly be looking at something else. Fieldaware does look promising but still on the pricey side.

My father in law got several quotes to redo his driveway and all the dudes just wrote a number on a business card. Reputable companies too. i wish i could just do that! So simple, so cheap.

I hear ya. I don't have a lot of trust in AG that i'm getting a good bang for my buck. The software works and is valuable and i haven't found anything comparable that is cheaper so......

I think that if they lowered their prices by a whole bunch, they could sell to far more companies.

I have an Ipad and started using Routzy this week, so far so good. What is the best mobile printer for ipad? From what I read the ipad cannot print via bluetooth.

I've been using routzy a bit more lately. There are some things I find pretty to be annoying about it. I want to throw them out here to see if you guys have noticed these and might have a fix...

1- Routzy is an info hoarder. If I put a client's contact info into the app on my iPad, that information is NOT available anywhere else. Is that right? I can't access the info online anywhere and there is NO iPhone app or desktop app that will help. My ONLY option is to use the iPad app.

2- When making a proposal, there is a LOT of excess information. There are columns for Item, Description, Unit of measurement, unit price and amount. I just need Item and Price. That's it. There is a bunch of wasted space and it looks unprofessional, in my opinion.

3- The calendar shares....but doesnt. If I make a follow up with a client...say I schedule a phone call....i can hit the "Add to Calendar" button and it will show up in my native calendar on my iPad and everywhere else it's synced, but I cannot actually SEE the calendar to know if I am available to make that call. So now I have to leave the app to see if I'm clear ANYWAYS, so why not just make the appt on the actual calendar app.

4- You can't see clients based on their status. Let me explain- when I make a proposal, I can set the status of the proposal. I have mine set so the options are

a. Client Waiting for Estimate
b. Estimate Sent
c. Estimate Accepted, waiting to be booked
d. Booked, waiting for work
e. Work Completed
f. Invoiced
g. Payment accepted

So this has the potential to show me some powerful stuff. If I keep it up to date, I could say, "show clients in INVOICED status" and I could at a glance see everyone who owes me money. Or if it is time to make some estimates, I could "show clients waiting for estimate" and i could see who has been waiting the longest then go ahead and do their estimate. As it is, I can only see an alphabetical list of my clients, click on them one at a time (even though 90% of them are old clients that aren't in the middle of a job right now) and then drill in to see what their status is, THEN act on it. That is not efficient.

5. Proposals/Estimates are not editable enough. There is a box for "shipping address." I don't ship stuff, so I need to get rid of this box...but I can't. Also, I don't want my logo where they put it and I want it bigger...but I can't get it that way.

6. There isn't a good way to LEARN how to do the things they brag about. You can look on their one-paged website and see all the great things they can do. They do a good job selling the app, but not teaching it.

There are more things I don't get. I'll update this thread when I remember. I fully admit that some of my concerns may be WRONG and based on the fact that I just don't know what I'm doing yet.

So far, the more I use it, the more I think it's not the right thing.

You just want any printer with AirPrint features. It's done through wifi. I'm getting one in the coming weeks...just have to figure out which is best.

have a look at quotientapp.com

I'm looking at the site. So far looks good. $10/month cheaper than routzy AND it comes with a 30 day free trial. I think after giving routzy a full 1 month trial, I'll give quotient a try.

Thanks for sharing it!

Hi Nick,

They are a pretty cool bunch of guys at quotient.

I have approached them about ideas to make it better and they take it onboard. For the feedback, they extended me to a 3 month free trial!

A couple of other options are:
Proposable
Quoteroller

Routzy looks like it has some good ideas but is very limited by being iPad only...OK for a small op ran by one person only, but if you want even 1 person on the road and 1 in the office it won't really work.

If quotient had the ability to draw a map or mark up photos it just about be perfect.

I love that it integrates with Xero online accounting and they are working on integration with Highrise CRM.
