A bit of winter climbing

moss

Been here much more than a while
Got together with some tree friends in central Massachusetts and enjoyed climbing a sizable white pine pine along a fast running river. Snowshoes make a huge difference when you're carrying a pack of gear through the deep stuff...

A cellphone did happen to jump out of the tree, took a very lucky bounce off lower limbs and did not land in the river. It left a perfect rectangular imprint in the snow making it easy to find a foot or so below the surface ;-)

Finally, a good purpose for that white stuff!
Great pic, looks like it was fun. Hey I have a snow saw I used to make igloos with, want it?

Awesome photos Moss! The snow looks wet which means it is warming up and THAT gets me excited for spring!

Haha I laughed out loud.

Yep, that was a relatively warm day. The cold came back, I had a bitter cold climb in a white ash a couple days ago. I like winter and winter climbing, I think I get colder climbing on a raw rainy April day then I do on a dry winter one. At any rate spring is coming!
