660 or 880

displacement wise yes, but melodramatic overstatement of the actual saw itself of course. I am 6' 185 and can run/carry one all day/week long you bunch of suzies. 1354218_6012660563980_886309045_n.webp

cmon guys, you want one and you know it. Imagine a modded and ported Stihl 088. Logs would just submit and fall into firewood lengths from sheer intimidation. No starting even nec. lol.

66o is a mid size saw...remember 071, 074, 075, 076, 084, 090...all treeman's "big" saws. I don't believe you guys. 1901506_604620089632433_1624148551_n.webp

cmon guys, the guy has the ability to make a lifelong purchase here as I take it. If he can afford an 880...buy it. 660, I have one, is a run of the mill saw. Step up and buy that damn thing. Then add a 440 or the like with pocket money off a job.

These farmers around here order 660's with 57" bars on them so they can whack down every treeline on the property without getting off the tractor, or turning off the air conditioner in the (leather interior) cab.

I think the bar mount is bigger so you need to have a devoted bar or bars for 880,
Just saying. Also it seems that most guys will grab the lighter 660 first

IMO the only reason for 084 088 880 3120 would be

1. you need to use a larger than 41" bar
2. you want a big saw for milling.

660 with an HO oiler will do just fine with 41" bar especially with a strong woods port geared towards the torque side vs the speed side of the equation. A stock 661 has no problem with a 41" bar. Open the muffler up from the .625" opening to about .875 ie. 7/8" for even more power and your good to go. If you go larger than 7/8ths you do start to lose power, unless it gets ported...then it can utilize the bigger opening.

I own both saws. Start with the 660. Then move up to the 880 if you cut that size wood. I believe in the right tool for the job. They do different jobs. Using a 660 for a job that is better suited for the 880 and visa versa seems silly. Secondly if you post saw videos you may consider practicing some safety. PPE ,no one handing etc. Just looks bad.

That was only to demonstrate the chain and the upper powerband of the saw. In no way was I trying to be careless or cocky. The tip of the bar wasn't near anything.

1st off nice saw. Not suggesting you were being cocky.Kick back is not the only danger. Eye protection at least. This is a website for professionals and we will notice the small details. Not trying to offend you. I am constantly reminding my crew about the small things.
