335 Husky

I bought a 335 husky some years ago just because of the way I attach my saw to my saddle . HAs the little hole in the back for me to hook a ring to .

I've used the 335 before and never really liked them because I''ve use the 020t for years, but decided to by one for personal use and try it. This was not the California special, older model.Anyway , with out any suprise to me , it ran like [censored] and seemed to have a fear of heights, especially when I wanted to start it in the tree.So , I left it on the shelf and went back to my 020.

Was talking to a rep one day, and he was trying to drum up more husky buyers in the area and he said to bring it back in to retailer and they would send it back to the dealer and up grade for free. Free ! I said really ? you got a deal.

Well, I just got it back and I must say it does run well, starts right away and actually stays running. I have the Cali special that I won in a competition , it runs well to, but so far I havn't found a prunning saw that compares to my 020.I have two of those also .

Anybody else use the 335 and had probs.?,,,,I'm thinking about trying a 372 husky to try one out. Any feed back on those >?

Thanks
Greg

I won a 371XP and really liked it, so I bought the 372XP (24"). I use semi-skip chain on it. It has alot of power, great anti-vibe system, the filtering system stays clear of sawdust for an extremely long time. I also have an 044 Stihl (28"). I would definitely buy another 372XP.

I really like my 335.
The only problem I had was the carbon fouling the screen on a regular basis making it hard to start and run at top rpm.
Ordered a modified muffler without the screen and it's worked great ever since.

I have a 335 that I bought about 2 years ago at Northern tool. It runs great, but almost immediatley the oiler crapped out. Brought it back got a replacement saw, same thing been sitting on a shelf ever since. Ive primarily always run an 020, 2 months ago I was considering another 020, but the reason I didn't get one was because of those silly fuel and oil caps, I hate those things /forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif
So I bought a husky 338( the new 335), Ive been very pleased with it so far. I feel it is every bit as comparable to the 020.
I have always been a stihl man, so far I have only one of the newer sthils with the goofy caps, and am not sure if I'll buy another. Guess I may be switching brands /forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Anyone else as annoyed with those caps as me? or am I just plain wacky? /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Those filler caps are a pain to start with, but you get used to them. I don't understand why they made the fuel cap fit perfectly every time and the oil cap fit perfectly every now and then! Stihl are capable of better. The only saw I have now with the old style caps is my 066. When I need it up the tree, it takes a while for the groundcrew to find a tool to open the filler caps cos the've not needed one with the other saws.
I had one of those top handled huskies on demo when they first came out. It went back to the dealer by the end of the first day! Not touched one since but hear that they are improved.

I have an older 335xpt. Like Kevin said, air filter can't be clogged; the saw will definitely let you know. But the only thing I can't stand is the way the chain tightens ( with that slit in the side of the bar with the blue arrow. ) /forum/images/graemlins/bur2.gif When the chain gets a little hot, it gets looser than I like. I think they make that model like STIHL now (with a screw to tighten the chain )

I play with the gremlins, they're so friggen fun, but one little message takes me forever /forum/images/graemlins/kos.gif

John, that was a stipulation before I bought it.

Dump the Intenz and put on the old chain adjuster or I won't buy it.

The dealer changed it and I bought it.

Is your bar getting sufficient oil?

You may have another problem other than the Intenz bar.

Yeah, I think it gets sufficient oil. It's really my "weekend warrior" saw; which means it doesn't have a lot of hours on it, and its practically new. At work they started me with an oo9 Stihl, then I bought the 335husky, and later at work they issued me an 020. If I could go back, I would buy an 020. mainly because I've seen how long ours last (we have a good mechanic.)

Probably 5 years ago I bought a 335 from the local college in which I was enroled as an arborist apprentice. The school used the saws then let the students buy them with 8-10 running hours on them. Thought I was getting a deal, the unit was going to help me make a mrtgage downpayment on weekends and such. IT WAS A COMPLETE AND UTTER NIGHTMARE. I would like to rant and rave and cuss the deplorable nature in which I was ripped off by the manufacturer however I tend to believe excessive swearing indicates an inability to express oneself.

I lost the oiler 3-4 times because various bandaids couldn't help their poor choice in epoxy. I had to replace the solid state ignition system the day after the saw left me up a sugar maple till after dark handsawing the top out so I could flop the tree. And the chainbrake................damn did that thing get my steam rising. I ended up taking a dremel to the spring and cutting it approximately 1/4" shorter so that the chainbrake wouldn't spontaniously engage with a blip of the throttle. A complete waste of money, I got as much work done with my handsaw and 046.

After we got our house bought me a bright new 200T, Only thing I wish is that a 4 mix 200t was available. Can we all say torque? /forum/images/graemlins/santa.gif

Guy! I got a lead on about 35 020t's ! when the boss finily agreed to dump all the old "s25 "poulans, he got all the guys a new 020.
when I flew out the one I was issued, and brought in my 338xp husky ...... everyone who wore shoes or ran a stick wanted to swap.
Now we're paying 100 bucks less for a better cutting saw, (better balanced ,too)
than the 020.
The parts seem cheeper too! {for the dogs that fly the saws on a reguler schedule}
Man.... stay with the huskys!!!
Oh yea! the 372 is a nasty Mother!!! try it with a chisel chain, on a 20" bar!
Its a screamer! /forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif [not for children]
I run the: 338xp

357xp
372xp
395xp
wouldnt trade for anything

That's real nice.

I've got

036
044
066

And I wouldn't trade you for any of your listed Huskies if you gave me money with them.

Come on Glen, The only possible saw worth condeming in Husky's lineup is the 334/335/338 series!!! Can you say anything but Stihl??? /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif

I know that you know that I know that you're having good fun, and vice versa.

That post about everybody wanting to dump their 020 for the Husky was bad enough, but then the listed saws exactly corresponded to the ones I've got on the truck and the temptation was just too much. The 044 just so happens to have a 20" bar with chisel chain, too, but I'll bet his 372 doesn't have a wondrous 13-tooth nose sprocket.

I'm sure Husky saws are okay or else there wouldn't be half a dozen people who like them. hahaha!

The first 335 XP were plagued with numerous problems.

I have a later model 335, and I have had good luck with the saw, and I am pleased with the power. The only complaint I have is the screen on the muffler gets carboned up a bit too quick for my liking. Someone mentioned a modified muffler without a screen - any info on that front is appreciated.

As to the 372 SP, it is a rocking saw for a a heck of a good price right now if you know where to shop - and nothing personal, but I would not trade any of my huskies for any of that precision west German engineering - Stihl makes some good saws but I feel they are overpriced in relation to what you get...

Beside, Huskies sound meaner! /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
