335 Husky

Leif

You said that this dosen't happen in Florida. Norm was over for dinner the other night and we both were thinking if it dosen't happen to Stihls in your area that it must have something to do with the "Basic" quality of the soil out here. It would be interesting to hear if Stihl has ever looked into what exactly causes this to happen.

I've only ever trimmed Washingtonias over here, never cutting the trunk (I'm also not sure which variety of Washingtonia they are). The only palms I've removed were sabals (cabage palm). I was wondering if it were some sort of mineral difference or something. I've also never worked on any palms on the ocean-front, that may change things too, due to salt spray. I know magnesium and salt don't get along. I'll ask some of the more experienced guys around here to see if any of them have had problems. /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

John, that was a stipulation before I bought it.

Dump the Intenz and put on the old chain adjuster or I won't buy it.

The dealer changed it and I bought it.

Does anybody know how to convert the 335xpt to where the chain adjusts like a 338xpt? ( without the intenz)?

got an older 335xpt with a muffler mod. starts good and runs strong! no oiler or any other issues. just a rugged good running saw.

I hear lots folks having problems with oiler and carb. but no problems here. but I do pay a lot of attention on maintenance.

I just told the guy at teh saw shop I wanted a screw-type adjuster and he got one for me. It was the kind that you screw up/down from the front of the saw, though--I gather now they adjust from the side?

I am running three different model Huskys, and one Stihl 019T. When I was ready for a tophandle saw a few years ago the Husky's were twice the price and I just couldn't afford it so I jumped the fence and bought an 'off-brand' (Stihl)Just kidding guys!. The O19T has treated me OK, but I have had to reattach the oiler pickup tube to the tank twice now and some other small maintenance. Not bad for 5 or 6 years of work. Business is picking up though, and I am thinking about adding another tophandle saw. How does the 020 compare to the 019T that I am running now? Has anyone used both? Seems there are more people are happy with their 020's than with the 335 so I am leaning toward another Stihl.... or is it just my perception?

My opinion may seem biased on this issue, but I assure you that what I say is my true feeling. The 200T is the most powerful and hardworking climbing saw available. The 019, well that's a whole different story! /forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Craig I hope they work well for you and after a while I would like to hear on that pole saw motor I did cause without the pole I really had no way on telling on how it really ran plus that rpm limiter is not great

Ed,

I have not tried the power pole head yet, I will put it into service next week muni pruning out of town........I will keep you posted! The 200's are great, the 2nd is still gaining...........anyone wanna race?

That is great Craig, take good care of those 200's cause they are kind of a limited number of them going to be made.

I will take a look next week down at my Stihl dealer and see if I can find a different coil for that pole saw that doesnot have a limiter on it

I have a "tweaked" one of just about everything. This is my 2nd "tweaked" power pruner, it is the 1st one that Ed has done for me though. Ed is da man/ da tweaker! /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ha, that he does. He's got me beat, as I haven't modded my Power Pruner or blowers yet, but I way outdo the crazy Jabberwock, as I soon will have 15 modded saws...including a piped ehp Dolmar 5100S, the new king of the 3 cube class..

rbtwee, in need of a 12 stepper??

I am getting close to catching you (10 modded), the 5100 is next on my list too. Something "piped" would be nice but right now I am looking a a set of mono block amps for my system. I would be sleeping in the doghouse if I got both. Thjere is always next year though. I might be headed out your way for a lil holiday (Van Island), so we might have to do some racing.

HOWDY Guys,
For my first post I need to figure out which 335xpt I have.
the first one I bought was the 1997-01, bought in june of 2000 I never had a chance to have trouble cause it got stolen within six mnonths.
I loved the saw because it is so light and powerful so as soon as i had some money again I bought another arround the spring of 2002. I really don't use the saws often and i had just moved so i used it a little when i bought it then it went on the shelf for about 6 months the next time i start it up Im thinking the brake is on but when it's not and I open the cover the crankshaft had snapped clean off.

I took it back to the dealer and it was still under warrenty and the replaced the crank once i picked it up I only used it for a small job then once again sat it on the shelf not realising that the oiler was not working after the repair. it was the following summer that i discovered this and when i ask the dealer about it I got a cold shoulder.

so for the last couple of years i have been hand oiling it because i was told it was a major operation to repair the oiler, well im tired of that and i got brave and opened it up and discovered the oiler is really not that big a deal.

the question is I now see three versions of this saw that overlap my purchase date. I can tell it is not the first 97 version because of the filter, but how do i tell the diffrence betweeen the 1999-03 and the 2001-05 ?
