30’ Fall

Yeah I’m pretty much the same! That routine has been interrupted a bit by the Sena system, my groundie will be hounding me for answers to questions while I’m involved in swapping systems. I have to say please stand by. Doing critical operations.
My groundies have always seen it best when I am in sticky positions to have a long chat.....I am like FU....busy here....

When i micd in with crane operates i vocalize alot if whats going on up in the tree competion style i dont care if their listen or think im crazy. I do the same when climbing without mics when i get into a spot with alot going on like srt recrotching ect.
JB you are a serious chap....

My sister lives there back in the late 70s. Quite a spot!
Yeah it’s pretty nice here. The Adams River is famous for the largest Sokeye run in the world. The park is loaded with monstrous cottonwoods! I had to cut a new trail there for the Park one spring. I needed rain gear from the water coming out when I cut into them. Poured out like a hose!

... I have developed a mental system over the years. Systems of check and double checks as OCD as can be. Its all part of my climb. I even connect my biner facing the same way every time all the time. If I do it differently it feels unnatural and causes me to pause and investigate what feels "off normal". I guess I may be alone in these practices but they work for me. Repetition and consistency. I can feel something funny inside me when I venture from the norm. Its kind of crazy but it works. I even know before I tie in that I forgot my handsaw because its part of the routine. Just like hitting the chain brake twice every time I start the saw and stow the saw. All part of my crazy.

You are not alone, Steve! The guy that showed me the ropes noted that I want to learn to do it exactly the same every time when I'm in the air. I have just a little bit of OCD myself and so I'm very consistent in the lanyard hook direction when I clip in. Good to hear there are others that have the same discipline to help keep themselves alive.
