You really showed that tree whos boss. Personally I'd love a little back story on this vid in the 2014 picture of the year thread cause to me it just looks you felled a big healthy tree in the woods. Beat a few up on its way down as well

That was a tree that was part of a thinning on a timber sale I cut this summer. Had to have it climbed and a few big leads cut off so it didn't split when it impacted the ground. Tree was perfectly healthy but it had to go. The fella needed as much money as he could get from the trees or he was going to lose the estate cause he didn't have enough money in the bank to make his sister happy on the estate settlement. Lots and lots of big trees like this one on that sale. Plenty on climbing and plenty of cutting the big trees. It was a kind of a poorly managed piece of timber . only great big trees and trees about 10 inches at breast height.

Forgot about this one. Definitely one of my favorite pics from my favorite job so far: 7 days climbing insanely huge rain trees in Ambon, Indonesia on a contract for Asia Tree Preservation. Everything about this job was epic. The pic was snapped by Ryan Lewis, who hangs around here (or used to) sometimes.
