I was headed to another job today when the transmission shot craps (at least i think so.) Its automatic and when i started off it was fine then suddenly hit 4k rpm (redline) and wasnt moving. It felt like it was in neutral... i let off the gas and it clunked hard back into gear then it drove normal for another 1oo yards then repeat. The whole time i got a light on the dash saying (Range Inhibit) anyone else have a similar experience? Gotta get the rig back in the field...

Allison Tranny? I've had the same in my International. It was due to temperature, too cold on mine. Possibly too hot on yours. If it drives fine tomorrow, drive it right to a transmission shop.

It is an allison... Issue is has not been overly hot here lately. Not over 80. Plenty of fluid too... I will try her tomorrow and post whatever happens.

I would not drive if tomorrow and get it towed to a Allison dealer your just going to burn it up worse it clinking and not staying in gear is not going to get Better with miles!!! Good luck

Electrical problems...wiring harness gone bad kicked on a sensor that is in charge of going off when transmission is out of fluid. Hopefully she will be back in the field after memorial day. Thanks for the suggestions guys! stay safe out there.

I didn't expect that being a Ford. My Int is known for elec issues. Thankfully only one so far.
