Treelogic, I wanted to say thanks for your time BTW.

For those of us that aren't familiar with the specie, about how old would live oaks that size be? I think they grow really slow, right? My brother lives in Mississippi and the communities there charish them.

If they grow slow, there can be a lot of yrs in just an inch of dbh. Can u put a big range on it?

I don't touch property line trees unless BOTH landowners agree and it is also clear as to who is paying for it.
Sometimes it pisses off my potential customer that they have to speak to their neighbor; but too bad, if they want us, they gotta do that or let me contact them.

I like this one. Awesome.

X, these are Quercus virginiana BTW. There are other trees called live oaks so that's just for clarification. If I had to guess they're maybe 75-100 yrs old, possibly 150. I've seen some really tight rings but also some surprisingly larger ones too. They really don't grow all that slow, especially in the early years if planted properly. They sprawl though, so the limbs basically turn into trunks and that can make them seem to be slow growing because they're adding mass all over the place, not mostly in one main stem. At least that's my take on it. I'm always hesitant to put an age on live oaks because I pruned one once that I thought was a 100 years old and the client showed me a picture of her standing beside the sapling 35 years prior. Without a doubt the longest lived trees we have around here. Can easily hit the 500 year mark if left alone to do their thing.
They're very prized around here. If you ever drive through you'll see why.

Don't get me started man :) I've been in that situation a lot. It's amazing how many husband/wife battles I've been in the middle of. I just tell them I got in the business to take care of trees, not marriage or neighbor counseling. I know that trees can spark a lot of emotion but please, work out the issues before you call on me. Or if they need options to discuss then fine, I'll look at possibly trimming to here...or there, but I'd rather stay out of the final discussion/decision. These scenarios really make me appreciate my easy customers.

If someone is charging you more than us for the exact same final product, then I would seriously question what it is exactly that they are going to give you that's better than what we provide as a standard. The same can be said for someone charging significantly less than us, you must ask them how does their final product and overall service compare to the one and only Charleston Tree Experts, LLC.

Yes!!!

Yep Levi, we've laughed over that a number of times already in my house. Did you notice that the website template he was using had coupon clip-out dotted lines around those phrases? Instead of offering a coupon he decided to make those statements. Note to self: don't edit website while high

I am not doubting your prowess Will but personally I would steer clear of that dude, he looks CRAZY! Might lasso you before you get a shot in;)
I was looking for an angry face emoji and the boxer just showed up in front of me. But to be honest, my prowess is a moot point against the Great Badeaux. I think you're right...best to steer clear. :)

Also for the record the cotton weeds out here aint THAT big and bad.
I've only worked one cottonwood around these parts. It's funny, I see them all over the place along the interstate but rarely in a yard. My guess is they're not that desirable around here and are removed before homes are built.

I do remember the one I worked, I had to prune some large limbs growing over another yard and I could take a swipe or two with my handsaw on a 4" limb and they'd just snap. Is that typical?

Thanks for the update Will. Im curious as to how this all plays out for for the guy. Maybe he will get ran out of town and show up here in Colorado. I know a guy who is a little more bad ass that will set him straight. And for the record, Im NOT that bad ass, but I know a guy. :hueco:
