2 hands on the saw while trimming palms.

there was a thread started on another forum where someone mentioned one handing a saw in a palm makes life easier. i dont see the need for it nor a good reason for one handing. i made a video explaining how you can reach down below yourself safely when taking off a large skirt of dead fronds like on a washingtonia palm while keeping both hands on the saw. i learned a trick to keep yourself from inverting when reaching under you. its pretty cool and i thought id share it.

normally when i work a palm skirt like on a large washi i use a running bowline choked to the palm under the crown. if you use a DRT system there can be alot of friction on the line because it rubs on a large length of the trunk. SRT is the preferred way to go.

Cool man thanks for sharing that. Seems like it works for you. Where I am there are no palms. To bad because that would mean warmer weather.

one of the main issues is when reaching down you can invert easily is some saddles. it would be funny if i could spider walk down my line while trimming off dead fronds. thats when all the blood rushes to your head and you pass out though

I am working my way up to one-handing my 3120 with 50" bar while climbing so that I can get a little more reach when trimming tips on a smallish top...when I get there I will make a vid...just gotta keep working on my arm strength :) Just hackin on you guys! I like that trick Zeb.

I know... and wouldn't you think it would be the other way round? Gravity pulls blood from our brains, yet we walk upright. LOL

I learned it from a climber working for me who learned it from Ed Carpenter the creator of the Ergo.

I learned it from Ed last Thurs. Great tip. Especially for an old(ish) dog learning new tricks.
