I'd think an unprecidented fire, with committed 30,000 firefighters, would draw some attention away from the pricks that try to tell us what's good for our economic well being?

Shouldn't give kids cancers or fucking hard wars and exploitation to initiate all this.

We're smarter than this shit

Fuck trump. Got better things to do.

Im agreeing with your take on the fires...we should never have developed when and where we have.
But we did.

I feel terrible about the properties and lives but...the rapid development and the SHIFTING climate realities are our principle contributions to the new world. That's a hard truth. Like my brain. Fuck the capitalist profits at all costs. Small, reasonable, creative, and parity with forethought and excellence.
Trump people?
Get the hell out of the way or change how you think.
We're tired of the shit.
It's all of ours...not your's.
That's what I think.

Recorded today the massive fish kill.."red tide" that washed up a record number of Mamatees, turtles, fish, and is expected to last 17 months, is going on north of the Atlantic coast east side Florida. Beaches, Maria's, and shorelines. Tourism just tanked.

Motels and resorts screwed. Fishing fleets.
People.

Big oil, cancers, kids, and us. For what?

Drilling offshore and "jobs?"

Stupid greed. Weather has presented us with what we sow.
We earned it.

Vote for who??

Change. No more of either.

But I think people are basically smart. It is way out of hand however.

Industry isn't that old. Kings are. Religion is.
James Jones, a evangelical leader summoned 290 people to their violent deaths. He was a WhiteHouse regular. David Korean did the same. Little girl brides hitched according to Gospel. Raped. 50-cal.
fully automatic insanity.

Thanks for the response and I agree with much of what you say. Sometimes I am hopeful for the future (you can see in the kids we are evolving, but maybe too late) and sometimes I see absolutely no hope at all. Profit over people/planet is so deeply ingrained in the mind of americans it is maddening. Example, in this microcosm of a microcosm (treebuzz and tree industry) there is enough evidence of blind, faithful, loyal servitude to leave one with little hope that things will ever improve.

I have tried to engage the group about thoughtless and idiotic, incredibly resource intensive and biosphere destroying, use of machines in our industry to absolutely no avail, only met with hostility (as if a negative remark about a machine is a personal slight to the owner)

Tried to engage about wage slavery, exploitation and blatant worker endangerment (all for $$, greedy bastards have no ethics), same results, no thought, no creativity, status quo to the death.

Same with chemicals, these tree people flat out love chemicals and the accompanying dollars from dowsing our towns in this shit. And the chemi people talk in the stupidest boring circles and try to justify their greed and destruction of life.

And the sad thing is, our industry almost entirely views itself as righteous do gooders, couldn't be farther then the truth!
I agree except I can't get youthful butts in the seats to take Green Industry oriented classes.

It smells too much like hard work I reckon.

Yeah, they all think they're the next great LA or just want to blog about bullshit. I need butts in seats...

Not to wade too deep into the Mystic but I want just a few who want to learn how to plant and prune properly. Let alone a few who really , really want to be kick ass Arborists...
Sigh...we have people willing to teach and donate time, materials, and equipment but few takers. Makes me sad at times.

Late at night I am worried bout drinking the milk in the fridge, will there be more next time I go to the store? How? It seems impossible yet, it's always there.

Come on Levi. Certainly you know why there is always milk at the store, right? BECAUSE SOMEONE PROFITS BY PRODUCING IT.

The “miracle” of the market. No bureaucrat or overlord had to tell him to produce it. He (the dairy farmer/multinational milk conglomerate) simply saw a chance to make money by making sure you can always enjoy your Frosted Flakes.

I don’t think that makes him evil or greedy. No more than any of us for demanding a paycheck on Friday for work performed. We can debate on the margins about mega-farms and environmental effects etc., and that’s fair enough, but the principle is unassailable. Travel anywhere in the world— the places you are most likely to find fresh, cold almost endless supplies of milk are the most economically free/capitalistic.

But as usual, I digress. :nocausagracia:

We are seeing people buy 20 acre parcels and applying for building permits, they log the entire property to the lot lines and sell the empty lot or sit on it for years because it’s too ugly to sell. I fucken hate that shit. Sorry for my language.
