100th Anniversary of ANZAC

Stihlmadd

Been here a while
on Saturday 25th April marks the 100th anniversary of the landing at Suvla Bay in Turkey as part of the Dardanelles campaign that would become known as Gallipoli.
The Australian and New Zealander component of the fighting forces , our ANZAC's.:tanguero:

Lest We Forget.

"Life is mostly froth and bubble,
two things stand out like stone
kindness in another misfortune,
courage in your own."
Lindsay Gordon 1833 - 1870.

This Saturday raise a glass and take a minute to salute the sacrifice of our fellow man.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13

Will raise one for sure. Quite a few actually as that's my 27th ann for being alive! It's an honor to share the day with such an event!

I had only heard the pogues version of the Eric bogle song. That one always stops me in my tracks. That is a stunning song. Not just the amazing story. But lyrically a fantastic song. I'm gonna have to look up his catalogue. Thanks for that, I'll put one up on saturday

Thankyou Gentleman - my great grandfather fought later in the fields of France and died of wounds received there several years later at home.
my grandfather was a navigator in bomber commands Lancasters and did two tours of duty before the end of the european side of ww2 and thankfully is still with us today. this may be his final march at 93 and as the years have wearied him but I have gone to watch and support him every year at the anzac day march as he proudly wears his medals and stands with his war time comrades.
