1 inch flat air hose for airspade/airknife

Hey all,

Just got a compressor and have an airknife in the works now I just need to find some airhose.

We'll be doing most of our work well beyond 100 feet of the compressor so we'll be wanting to get some 1 or 1.25 inch air hose. These are the diameters recommended by the tool makers, btw.

Anyhow, cheap bugger that I am, I'd rather find it from a source closer to the hose maker or, even better, find some used.

That said, can anyone point me to a particular maker?

Even better, can someone tell me what the makers marks are on your 3/4" flat hose?

Thanks in advance!

Just remember, the more hose you lay out, the less pressure you have at the end. I learned this through experience.

I have no numbers to base it on, but I highly doubt 1" hose will run an airknife at full capacity at 50', no less 100'. 1"hose is what they use on that mini airspace, right? If all you're doing is loose soil and root flares only that might work, otherwise id give it every advantage possible for full power!

Per compressor/tool engineers the minimum diameter for air tools (jackhammer, airspade) is 3/4 inch for up to 50 feet. 3/4 inch flat is what comes rolled up with the air excavating tools.

Beyond 75 feet or so they recommend that you use 1 inch, up to 300 feet.

Beyond 300 you'd have to go to 1 1/4 inch or larger but that will most likely to have outstripped compressor compacity regardless hose diameter.

And Tom is right, for every fitting and sharp bend there needs to be an adjustment for friction loss.

The hose that is sold as an accessory for the Supersonic Air Knife is a flat hose with a thin wall and a 1" inside diameter.

I have run over 200' of this hose with no appreciable loss in air pressure or performance.
The heavy rubber hose has a smaller inside diameter and looses efficiency with increased length.

Other than through Supersonic Air Knife I do not know where you can get this hose. There must be another source but I have never really looked.
