I have an almost 3 year old magnolia I planted in my front yard in Northern MS. It has a codominant leader and I'm wondering what the best way to prune this tree would be. My goal would be for long term stability so my grandkids can have a good climbing tree in 20 years.
Thanks for the help!
Sorry if this has already been covered.
I'm having trouble with the akimbo slipping down the rope when using a rope walking system. It slips if I try to squat straight down but if I lean back it usually catches. It does this even on friction settings too tight for the rope (Sterling htp 12.5)...
Any updates on 6mm vectran? I just ordered some from Omb warehouse since they said they had it in stock. They just emailed me and said it was extensively backordered or no longer available.
So I'd like to find a source for it or a similar replacement. Any ideas?
My friction saver is 48 inches with a 12 inch crossover in the middle. I tapered following Nick's advice on the tree-u splicing Video. I removed 2 strands every 5 until I had 6 left. Then after the crossover I removed one of the 6 every inch for the final taper. It came out fairly uniform from...
Thanks @ARLO for the beeline splicing videos. I have a couple of questions for you guys. Does 8mm beeline use the same recipe as the 10mm?
Also what do you folks use to protect the core? Maxijacket? Starbrite?
Thanks
That really does sound great. I talked with him a bit and sounds like they are climbing all week and having a seminar this weekend. I really wish I could make it but I'm going to have to plan for another time. I will be keeping a look out for an event I can come watch or get in on. Thanks...
Thanks so much for the help with this everyone. I'm a rec climber and I am learning a ton with every climb. And thanks to this site and videos that its users have posted I have had the confidence to actually get in a tree and feel safe so far. I read here on the forum "low and slow" several...
Hi guys and gals.
I'm a noob climber and I'm trying hard not to kill myself while I'm still getting the hang of it. So I got the ISC Rocker from treestuff. I'm using it as a fall arrest device for redundancy on a separate line in case I do something foolish. What do you guys think about the...
Thanks for the offer. I think I will order up some blaze and give it a try.
I've read that the aramid fibers wear on the aluminum too fast. Would the technora in 10mm epicord do the same?
I'm actually trying to make it adjustable by pulling out the tail and putting in a slip knot for ascent and then lengthening it back out once I'm up. probably 6 or 7 feet should do it. If I can't find a source when I need more what would you guys say is a safe alternative?
I'm looking for a longer bridge on my treemotion saddle, but I can't seem to find this stuff by the foot. Anybody have a source?
If not whats a good choice as a replacement bridge? The reading I've done so far leads me to believe a good 16 strand climb line will work (I've got some xtc plus...
C'mon you know you love it. With all the fun getting a bag o' rope from treestuff (may you remain awesome in your time of transition!) is there must be alot of unnamed ropes floating around out there. I have recently gotten a couple of these bags and have some ropes I'm hoping you guys can...
