    Sticht Hitch

As far as I know, I haven't seen a video here. I'll try. Or others could chime in if they have one.

The rope does stay in the groove. I chose a slightly larger thimble. i.e. 12mm thimble for 11/10.5mm ropes.

Thank you for the clarification. I've tried it with the twist and without, so I share my experiences. At least for me, without the twist, it tends smoothly even with a thimble. I thought it makes more space between the climbing rope and the thimble when tending, but that's just another variable...

Did you try it without the twist, I mean the way I tie it in my pictures? Just asking to avoid confusion as they act differently.

A steel thimble works just as well instead of a ring. Tending is even easier and minimizes rope on rope friction.

Sounds brilliant, but I couldn't find the right combination as my ring collection is pretty limited. Can you post a pic or two? My guess is you're using a larger front ring to make it work.

Yeah, I know. That's basically a HH, right? Maybe it's time for me to try it out. Your design is...

Yeah, I know. That's basically a HH, right? Maybe it's time for me to try it out. Your design is refined. Thank you for your response, anyway. I don't want the drama either.

I understand the importance of these components, but my question is, how would I know if the ratio is correct? Would you say it's right if it performs well? I wish I could test them separately as you've done for your HHxf, but all I can do is do a visual inspection of the cordages and compare...

    Sticht Hitch

Thank you. Good to hear that. In my use case, the rings, especially the back ring, become pretty hot after a long descent, so I assume they're absorbing a certain amount of heat/friction. There's no way for me to know what percentage they're bearing, though. I'll keep inspecting the wear and...

Right on. That is exactly why the Sticht works I guess? I'm keen to hear your thought.

    Sticht Hitch

It might. I haven't noticed it, but I'm a fairly light climber, so it'd be great if someone here could try it and report back. (Low and slow, of course!) The twist, especially the upper one, seems to make hand tending harder for some reason, hence my alteration. It works like the side plates of...

    Sticht Hitch

No, I mean I got rid of the twist altogether. The back ring is placed between bights and pinched with legs coming from the eye. The legs are then twisted before the stopper knot. Hard to tell through pictures, though. I should probably make a video. Thanks for the heads up about the carabiner...

I, too, find adding a slight bend with two rings works the best with the ring on the back placed perpendicular to the front one. The twist makes the ring wobble, though, like some of you mentioned, so I put the back ring between a bight and let the tails through it. The ring stays in place, and...

I'd try putting a dogbone between the twist and rope and finish off with stopper knots. If that makes sense.

Thank you for your insight. So far it seems to work well for me but there're still many things to try and learn obviously. I hope this hitch will be tested more widely and taught as the go-to hitch for SRT someday.

    Sticht Hitch

First time poster. Just wanted to chime in to say thank you @Brocky for creating Sticht Hitch. I've been playing around with this and I think I've found the right combination. The gears I use: KM3 10.5mm / Armor Prus 8mm / DMM 28mm ring / Stainless Shackle / and Hitch Climber Descent on the...
