That's the splice version I couldn't get to work with Amsteel II Plus, at least not the coated stuff. It might work with uncoated but the cover is just too tight with the coating.
Lock seize is just tensioning the rope and throwing a bunch of stacked half hitches over the cover tail and throat of the splice. Finish a lot like a lock whip.
I've had good success using a 7/16 fid. You get 11 taper strands marked and a nice smooth taper.
Break testing did better than 1/2 fid, as that one had more slippage before breaking.
I set it with a belt and never have a problem with it being difficult, especially compared to Blaze or...
Ah, sorry, I'm not a climber making useful things, I'm a full time splicer making fun items for myself. It's just a strap to help carry things that I made while bored.
And yes, you're right about the brummel and buries. When I make hand spliced prusiks, there's over a foot of extra cover per that gets cut off and would be wasted.
If I make 8 prusiks at once, I get a nice length of cover to use. I've actually made quite a bit out of things that would have...
Very nice! All my hand spliced prusiks besides Ocean have been made by removing the core, double ended brummeled eyes, reinserting into the cover, whipping and dipping in polyurethane.
Cheers, thank you! I got the spiral idea from someone at the Samson factory, and the keychain is a result of a running joke called "will it brummel?" Because I kept trying to splice random items.
The cover from Bee Line is actually crazy strong. I spliced an eye to eye sling and broke it at...
