Arborwear like climb pants with knee pad inserts in place?

Thanks @erwin! That's good to hear Nicole took care of ya. We certainly try our best here - the field testers and customers like yourself are our first line of feedback for any product enhancements or fixes. Thanks again

    Work pants for treework

@southsoundtree Glad you like the Tech pants! The nylon is super tough and I like the roomier fit. Of course I do work for Arborwear so... (y)

Arborwear like climb pants with knee pad inserts in place?

@Peetle that's awesome. Thanks for all the info! Pros and cons to both approaches as far as sourcing is concerned, that is for sure. It's like the old saying "You can make some people happy most of the time, or most people happy some of the time." Something like that... lol

@Peetle that is pretty cool you guys do custom sizing... and a darn good idea. folks might be on the smaller or larger ends of the size spectrum with limited options, and willing a dish out a bit more for something that works. It's not so much us, as it is the factories with min orders... SIP...

@erwin FYI - I forwarded on all that info to the Product Development department. Thanks!

Arborwear like climb pants with knee pad inserts in place?

I know they've talked about more "fringe" sizing for years. The thing that usually kills it is factory minimums. IE, you HAVE to order a minimum of 5,000pcs per size, and if we only sell 100 pairs, we just threw away a few grand. It's always hard for big n' tall folks (and abnormally skinny)...

@erwin all good thoughts - I'll forward on to the development crew. Thanks for the feedback.

@Chaplain242 Ugh... crazy humans. We are really good at inventing very expensive means of curing ourselves from our own inventions made to make life cheaper, convenient, easier and safer. #keepitnatural #familyfarms4life #dadwasabluecollarunionhippy

@erwin just wanted to add that they are moving the pocket on the Canopy Pants from the front to the side and redesigning it a bit. The pocket will now have a flap protecting the zipper, which runs along the top at a slight angle. They should have the updated product in Fall, this year. Just a...

Of course, the rest of us uninformed saps are equally at risk. It's a mad world. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/these-are-the-gnarly-chemicals-in-the-cheap-clothes-we-buy_n_57d6e494e4b03d2d459b92ff

@Chaplain242 it does seem like there has to be a better solution that isn't cancer causing. Same as Roundup I suppose. If it's cheap and gets the job done, profits (or for municipalities 'cost savings') always takes the priority over nasty side effects. Tis sad and true.

@Chaplain242 I should add, it's not that I don't hold those folks in high regard and would certainly appreciate them rushing in with full armor if my house was on fire. I think my dad just always had a chip on his shoulder with firefighters (even though some were his best friends) since...

Thanks @SomethingWitty . I'm certainly no Arborist and will continue to stick to my area of 'expertise', though I really don't consider myself an expert in much even after 41 years of living. I swear my brain started to slow down once I got married and has only gotten worse. I'm an (overly)...

@Chaplain242 No coating on gear to my knowledge. It's actually in the fiber. Not sure what they use, but I'm fairly certain its not Nomex. I had it explained to me once but forgot the specifics long ago. Most of the firefighters in my town had more to be concerned with from getting a bad batch...

My fault - apparently they recently sold most of our "Original Tree Climber" FR Pants. No FR pants left! Dragonwear gear looks nice but $$$.

Just wanted to add... not all harnesses are going to fall in the same spot on every body type of course, but we do try to make pockets accessible while wearing a harness. Here's a few pics of the Ascenders on a dummy with harness while our development team was working out details. Of course we...

Arborwear like climb pants with knee pad inserts in place?

@erwin Yeah, especially canopy and ascenders are designed with a focus on climbing, harness comfort, and literally being in a tree for 7 plus hours moving all over the place. They also try to make the pockets so they dont fill with sawdust easy or let things fall out when operating at extreme...

Let me check it out. I know Arborwear doesn't have our own branded suspenders, but we do make belts so .... At the very least they may know some third party suspenders that work well with the loops on the Ironwoods.

@SomethingWitty if I was doing daily welding and grinding I'd probably opt for something FR... even though its going to be quite a bit heavier and hotter. I *think* we have a few pairs of Cedar Flex FR pants left in the warehouse. They aren't on the site, but if you want to order some just give...
