In BC the Worksafe BC website is pretty clear, workers are to be in a man basket not ride the ball. This works ok if the tree is stable, just climb out and the crane swaps basket for a sling, rappel down, cut.
If the tree is not stable it is a nuisance unless you can cut it with no rigging...
Thanks for the advice
I'll see what comes up for availability in the used market when interest rates start coming down

Hi everyone
I am having difficulty finding reach diagrams to compare a 70 forestry truck with a 60 rearmount.
Which has more reach?
I think a 70 rearmount (or tracked lift) would be ideal, but my finances aren't co-operating.
Thanks

I was probing a tree to check for a cavity with a knife and the locking mechanism failed.
I'm always on full alert when running saw, but I got complacent with a simple folding knife.
It's slowly healing, kind of messed up the last month of my season.
Stay alert out there guys.

Thanks you guys, always appreciate your advice.
I'm trying to make the leap to getting a bucket truck, but also want to ensure the mini skid return trip is eliminated. when hauling logs and chips.
Also.. (...rear mount vs forestry) ?

Hi does anyone roll with their mini skid in their bucket truck chip box daily?
I currently load mine onto my f550 4' deck frequently.
What is the height to the bottom of a bucket truck chip box?
Thanks

I have the ms 220 with ap300s batteries. No experience with the husky 540i. Never liked the 540xp. Ms 220 great for small removals, limbing, pruning. Cutting wood wears the battery down fast. So it doesn't replace the 201, but complements nicely. It is my go to top handle. But I bring the 201...
If your crew gets the day's work done to standard a half hour early and the chipper doesn't need cleaned traileraxles don't need grease, send them home with a full day's pay, you met your quota anyway.

I have a 14' dump trailer. I use it for hauling the mini skid, wood, and what I refer to as "shit sticks", the stuff too small and dirty to go through the chipper.
Limbs & branches go through the chipper into the 550 aprox 15 yard box.
Between labour/effort and time I avoid slashing branches in...
