I’d like to convert an echo 490 from .325 pitch to 3/8 pitch .050” gauge. Is the 490 suited for this conversion or is it a pain. Can you replace the sprocket rim and bar and call it a day?
What is a comparable chipper to the M12D? Now that Morbark discontinued the M12D, a chipper we currently own, we are wondering what to get next. Any suggestions?
We like the single infeed wheel with a compression system.
We are looking for something in the ~5K weight range
Our M12D has a...
What is this?
This was an isolated area in a red maple crown. The rest of the tree looked good. I couldn’t find any green coloring in the cambium and the leaves don’t quite look like verticillium wilt. Is this just obvious and I’m blanking at the moment?

How many of you have experience using the Double Dragon Loop?
I usually use the alpine butterfly when rigging a tree with a pull line to create MA. I know the Alpine Butterfly doesn't typically like to be loaded heavily by the loop. Someone...
Someone sent me this picture and I can’t quite tell for sure if this is needle cast. I know sending a sample into a lab would be recommended, but I am just curious what you all think. This tree also has bag worm on it... Thanks!
Does anyone have a collection of training videos and course packages they have collected to train new employees? We, a two man business/partnership, don't have any employees currently, so we don't have any program set up. But I am interested in how other small companies handle new hires...
To explain where I am coming from before I ask my questions: I am an ISA CA, but I have next to no experience with pesticides. Our company is a small, family run and operated business in Berks County, PA...doing mostly pruning, crown restoration/corrective pruning, tree removal, stump grinding...
Our small company has never had a Bucket.... but our current trucks keep failing and if we need to replace one we are thinking it would be the time to add a bucket to the mix.
Current situation: We have two diesel Ford LCF trucks (cab forward). However, time and time again we have had to...
Wooooah.
I think we all have dreamed up this stuff. I know I have had the exact ideas of the backpack chansaw and the drone to set the line, but I wonder how practical it would be.
I do wonder how things will change!
:envidiosoMUST SEE!
There is a climber selling a brand new pair of high end :numberone: spikes for an  outrageously good deal on TreeBay.
You can find the whole story here:

I'm wondering if any of you have any solutions for getting more information from your clients so as to come close to an accurate estimate without seeing the trees in person. Do any of you have a contact form that allows for photos and a basic tree analysis that the client can fill out?
I am...
Has anyone ever used this device? A friend just gave this to me, and I have never seen one before. I was thinking it might work as a lower-able base anchor for SRT...like the petzl rig. I haven't found too much about this descender and was just wondering what you all think??? I really...
I found this really fascinating!

I especially found the idea that the mother trees pass on info to their young to help fight diseases and such to be incredible...
Almost every Juglans regia I see is suffering...I am in Eastern PA. Why are they all dying? Is it the usual diseases or is there an epidemic hitting our area. I am aware of the TCD the Black Walnuts are fighting, but in the past few years I have seen a substantial number of English Walnuts...
A client just handed me a newspaper article from the Reading Eagle.
It's got an unfortunate Title, but it is a good write up. Congratulations Derrick! @countryboypa31...
Hi all, Do you have any recommendations on good books about caring for forests. We have a client that has a large property, most of which is a forest, and he was wondering about books he could read to better understand caring for his forest.
Anyone know of something like that?
I feel like...
So I have been wondering how the Autumn Cherry blooms twice...
Does it grow new buds or does it simply retain buds for the later bloom?
Most cherry trees bloom on last year's buds...so does the Autumn cherry have a special mechanism that can trigger some but not all to bloom???
I am just...
I know there are a lot of options out there, but I am curious what you all usually recommend. I'm talking Eastern PA, Zone 6, and southern exposure.
Of course, there is arborvitae, leyland cypress, privet, etc., but what do people like? Any creative ideas? Bambooo_O?
I just thought I would...
