Hey guys, if you haven't seen them check out the new Giant BMG Edition loaders Top Notch Equipment is selling. Probably the best compact articulating loader on the market right now for tree work. No plastic panels like the Avants had, and with the dual tire option, you can fit through a 36" gate...
Here's another storm damaged tree we removed recently. There's a bit of rigging in this one to make it more exciting. Had to rig the lead out over the house, the rest I was able to just bomb out.

Well, here it is, have at it guys. Storm damaged white pine we removed after a recent wind storm knocked out the other leader in it.

Finally picked up a GoPro helmet cam a week or two ago. Been messing around with it since then, haven't had any stellar jobs to use it on yet, but some fun ones none the less. Just some random shots I thought I'd throw together and put up.

Got an email from Sherrill advertising some new gear, one of which is this.

Basically a copy of the CE Lanyard. Found it kinda ironic that Sherrill would copy it, but I'm not suprised, seeing as they...
Just thought I'd post a short vid I made from when I was down in Asheville, NC, working with Andrew and Wagner Tree Experts. Worked with them for about a week after the Charlotte comp, Andrew's the one doing most of the climbing. Also included some photos of a drive I took on the Blue Ridge...
Hey guys, I have a buddy who's moving to Northern CA here shortly and he asked me to look into what he can potentially make/charge as a contract climber there. He's been in contact with a few companies already, but he doesn't know what he should be charging over there. A hi/low price range, etc...
Today I was able to check out an Oakley store up in OH, and I got to try on a few different pairs of frames. The few I tried didn't have the ANSI rating on the frame, but I wanted to check online and be sure. This is one pair I was looking into:

Hey guys, need a bit of help with my new spurs. Don't know if anyone can actually help, or if I'll have to call Stein/Climbright, but here it goes.
I was trying to adjust the pads on them today, after climbing in them 3 or 4 times, and I couldn't get the bolts unscrewed. I tried both an 8mm and...
Had a quick question about various winter gloves. Normally I use the atlas winter gloves and liners but either way my hands still get cold. So as I was browsing a local outdoor store I came across some insulated winter gloves that have a latex type grip on them. Not fully coated like atlas, but...
Hey everyone, just wanted to make a quick post on here. Due to some issues, I may not be able to make it up to the hands on crane workshop this coming December. I won't know for another 2 or 3 days, but its looking more like I won't be able too. So I talked to Jim and he suggested putting my...
Hey guys, decided I'm going to stay up north here and work until the crane seminar rolls around, so I'm looking for anyone who needs help with all this storm work. I'm a great groundman, and a decent climber, so PM me or email me if you're looking for help.

Hey guys, I'm gonna start work on an employee handbook/guideline type of thing here soon, so we have it all in writing and everything is clear as too safety guidelines, whos responsible for what, maintenance, etc. So far, I have

Hey guys, did my first lightning strike tree removal today. About 20" DBH Honey Locust. I'll post pics later, but wanted some tips for working trees like this. It was a double leader, and when I was working one lead down, it was just cracking open when I cut into it, from where the lightning...
Hey guys, quick question about prescription safety glasses. At the last KYTCC I was told the lenses on my safety glasses must be marked with the ANSI Standard like the frames are. I've never heard that rule before, but went with it and thought it was true. So far, I haven't been able to find...
Wondering who has seen the new climbing saws from Stihl and Husqvarna, the 201T from Stihl and the T540XP from Husqvarna. I'm liking the look of the new Stihl saw.
