Hobbs VS Stein RCW-3001 VS GRCS... vs Rope Jack vs Rigging Wrench RP292... Rig small and boring.

Hobbs is great. Intuitive and easy to use if working with different grounsmen. All in one unit is nice And simple. No changing bollards or winch add ons. Grcs is certainly better for long lifts and especially with only one groundman, but i roll with the hobbs everyday myself. Zero complaints...

    EHS cable tensioning

mine too could always just use a prussik with throwline or thin cordage on the cable and connect to your saddle while you make your way over to the finishing anchor point

    EHS cable tensioning

Yup. I was trying my best to avoid a whole come along. Rope jack is a cool tool to have for light-medium tensioning. Thanks jb holdway

    EHS cable tensioning

Since i purely climb i have always been thinking of the most efficient yet simple way to tension EHS cable with the least amount of tools hanging off me. This has been working well using a cable grab and the cmi rope jack, neon sling around leader

Tree failure, while I was climbing it.

I think he is addressing the idea of a magnet getting caught in a crotch after the magnets have already released due to a tree failure...similar to tying a knot onto their lanyard snaps which can snag in tight crotches at times. Not something I would be too worried about myself but I see the issue.

Tree failure, while I was climbing it.

Thats why I bought 350lb magnets originally, but after flipping them to attract, they lost a little holding power. However, after doing some testing, at 170, the earth magnets work nicely. You really have to slam into your lanyard with some serious force to get them to release. And if your...

Tree failure, while I was climbing it.

Very difficult to slide apart as is, but if you look closely at the pictures of the magnets separated, you'll see that the head of one screw snaps perfectly into the countersunk portion of the other, pretty much locking them in place

    Road Trip

Mid-February I will be taking off on a 6 week road trip towing a 20 ft. travel trailer / camper with my girlfriend and dog. Never done a trip like this before. I will be bringing some climbing and rigging gear along with a few saws, so I'd love to meet up and work with some fellow buzzers...

Tree failure, while I was climbing it.

Good questions. From the ebay link: PERMANENT STRENGTH - Neodymium is a kind of rare earth metal, it's suitable for making permanent & powerful magnets. This fishing magnet has permanent magnetism, it will be the same powerful even decades after. I'd say just test before use. I hope never to...
