    Knee ascender attachment

You can review your setup for hardware overhead or wasted length. Example 1 over foot arch separate strap onto carabiner to knee ascender vs bungee anchored at throat of foot loopie on original Haas. Example 2 bungee exit at top being as low as possible ie out splice to croll on original Haas...

    Artemis II

The rocket launch experienced as a live audience member on-site probably feels pretty real and not cgi. Or maybe its a 100 square mile outdoors studio effect. They just hid the speakers and projectors. Just kidding. A fellow from Oregon's dad worked on the initial photographic mapping of...

    Log splitter weld job

Simple weight support components are an easier fix than the main box/I-beam slide structure with knives/cylinder support because the loading is much smaller. I presume this is your case. If the big structure gave way you've got a more difficult proposition. Sometimes with a bit odd fitment...

    OLDS-Overhead Lowering...

Shoutout to Moray post #102 for spotting the concept "tension ratio" which I also arrived at after doing almost exactly the same testing - him maple me fir. ratio 2.0:1 DRT 180 deg turn rings a bell. Have to look it up - old feeble brain syndrome :) Names and users gone by. Time moves on.

In all seriousness radiation protection is quite a complex issue. Simple sunburn didn't quite work into the analogy. I've discovered that least currently there's a substantial rewind capability on all 3 NASA live streams. There is IMO worthwhile stuff to see right during the approach and swing...

The ultimate helmet camera Perched looking "over the shoulder" of a spacecraft over 200,000 miles from the earth watching the details of the moon surface appear. A short while ago the craft is aimed to go past the left edge of the moon, the sun is coming in from slightly to the left, the right...

Don’t you just love working alongside main roads…

School - one time doing 1 or 2? dead ashes by a fence backing into a school yard, in the middle of summer school's out no kids and I looked and checked every time I dropped something into the school yard. We saw someone was in/on the property inside the school so thought it courteous to...

    WTB - CMI trolley

On second read I see the bevel on the edges of the rigging plate holes. Bit of an edge there for aluminum biners. My method has been big countersink followed by chain sharpening file to round off. IMO file the outer (lower) load bearing edges for smoother biner contact and less biner wear...

    WTB - CMI trolley

Synthetic EP (extreme pressure) grease has a carrier which is "stuff" that holds oil in it and synthetic grease means it carries synthetic oil. EP is usually 2 to 5% molybdenum (grey color) solids that reduce metal to metal wear under slow steady pressure (sound like a pulley bushing?)...

    WTB - CMI trolley

As a finery step you could flap disc the traction bumps off the plate. Extra rounding buff on edges is always a nice touch too. Looks nice. Even if the pulley bushings are oilite, I'd re-grease them with yellow-metal compatible grease. Certain additives can attack bronze etc bushings.

Don’t you just love working alongside main roads…

I once put gas cans as oolorful visibility and stacked brush as a barrier on a sidewalk where I was piecing down branches near a smaller road. I watched a pedestrian step over a can and struggle to climb through the brush pile so they could get into the drop zone as I called out to them, then...

Deep dark NASA conspiracy Secret! The toilet seat sticks to the lid when you lift the lid! And it's supposed to! Ah, to confirm the veracity... For all the conspiracy theorists out there. ;-) edit - "Integrity, that's a no-go on using the toilet" "Can somebody get a hold of Wolowitz?"

I just watched some live NASA feed from the Artemis 2 launch and they had a camera at the rear of the craft looking back at earth. No blue marble as its cloudy weather. The earth was a crescent and you could slowly see the rotation into sun rise. The sun was just coming up outside my window...

2026 European Tree of the Year

The one contoured shade tree reminds me of the one that survived the lava fire in Hawaii. I feel like printing off the article and dropping it off at a former friend's place. He got a new gal and she affected his thinking. When I refused to lion tall his maple over his deck, and I mean...

    Dragon Flies & Bats !

In the late summer years ago when we used to play net-less fun badminton quite large black dragonflies used to show up in the evening and chase the birdie on our comically high shots. They came from a creek about half a km away.

Yeah, it really puts things in perspective. The old saying, one wrong punctuation mark can take down 10,000 lines of code. Now it's one system access priviledge can negatively impact millions of people's lives.

The "Promising" Rope by Sterling... Triad

I remember something in a test vid where IIRC bonding the cover increased the rope's resistance to abrading and breaking over a sharp edge (?). edit - prevented large exposed core section cutting on an edge after de-sheathing, I think some fresh adjacent sheath absorbed additional abrasion to...

    Short vs. Long Bridge?

I can see a similarity or connection between trying to up-angle (vs pole lineman pose on spar/spurs) support yourself with your lanyard on your side D's which rides your saddle up into your ribs. If the saddle can be adjusted so the bridge force tightens into the leg loops sooner ie shorter...
