Contrasts from the last few days. The first pic, removing a hazard tree for the town before Wednesday's storm, which washed away the local pier (as seen in the second pic).
I run a 20” .325 on mine and I definitely wouldn’t go any longer. I’ve got the west coast felling dogs on it because I like running them in the tree, but it’ll definitely bog if I’m not careful when dogged in.
I picked up a pair of the vivo barefoot trackers and really like them for climbing. I’m generally barefoot or in zero drop/minimalist footwear for everything else in life except wearing boots for spur climbing.
Just got a new Tsumura lightweight bar. Never had one before, but looks to me like the rivets that attach the tip aren’t fully peened. Is this normal for Tsumura bars? Definitely not what I’m used to on any other brand bars I’ve used. And when I replace tips myself I always peen them pretty flush.
Pretty sure it varies based on harness size. I have a size 1 and the stock bridge is 45cm, but I added a 40cm (which they use on size 0 I believe) to have two different lengths. Maybe the 50cm is stock for the size 2?
I find the straps often end up under the pads on my Protos when I put on the muffs. Shifting them back and forth seems to free the straps and makes for a significantly better seal. Anyone else experience this?
I think I've just accepted the weight as a trade off for running on batts. I was curious about a 16" because I put the Westcoast dog on mine, which I really like but loses about 2" of usable bar. Not that I regularly want to cut full bar length with it, but there seems to be an interesting...
You may be aware, but there are some Facebook groups where people sell chippers. Might be easier to find something there than just searching the FB marketplace.
Anyone know if there’s a 16” bar that will fit the Milwaukee top handle? I heard somewhere that Oregon makes the bar that comes with it (which is .325 .043) so maybe a Speedcut Nano? I don’t have a Stihl or Husky top handle so I can’t compare the bar mounts to the Milwaukee, but maybe one of...
I haven’t had the tool drop, but I’ll keep my eye out for it.
I know what you mean about the 8s, but I just have another one sent up. Milwaukee did just come out with the new 6.0 Forge battery and I think next year they’ll have a 12.0 Forge battery…might just have to save up for one of those...
I’ve been running the Milwaukee top handle for about a month now and the torque really is impressive! West Coast Saws makes a nice felling dog for it too, which it actually has the power to make use of. I also have the Makita with the dual batteries (conveniently I was already running both...
